SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership showdown with Aberdeen on Wednesday night.
Rangers vs Aberdeen (Wednesday, 20:00)
Rangers and Aberdeen will renew hostilities at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night.
The Light Blues eased the pressure on manager Philippe Clement with a 3-1 win over St Johnstone last time out.
As for Aberdeen, their miserable run of form continued when playing out a goalless draw with Hearts at Pittodrie on Sunday.
With Rangers being the firm favourites for the win here, I’m instead going to propose a play on a player-based selection.
Sivert Heltne Nilsen has been priced up at 10/11 on Betfair to commit two or more fouls during this showdown and that price holds plenty of appeal.
The tough-tackling Norwegian is expected to move back into the Aberdeen midfield at Ibrox on Wednesday night after slotting in at centre-half against Hearts on Sunday.
Nilsen has committed 1.60 fouls per 90 in the Scottish Premiership this season, only avoiding the referee's gaze in three of his 20 top-flight outings this term to date.
Upon closer inspection, it can be seen that Nilsen has been guilty of multiple offences in eight of his previous 16 outings in the Scottish Premiership.
That 16 game sample includes four fouls away at Celtic, three away at Hearts and three on the road at Dundee United.
The 33-year-old’s aggressive-streak can also be attributed to the fact that he has racked up 10 yellow cards across his 26 appearances in all competitions for the Dons this season.
The likes of Ianis Hagi, Mohammed Diomande and Nicolas Raskin should draw a few challenges and fouls from Aberdeen’s midfield, and that only adds to the appeal of siding with this angle of attack.
With all that in mind, I'm more than happy to be involved with Nilsen to get on the wrong side of referee Kevin Clancy on multiple occasions during the latest edition of this grudge match.
