SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of FCSB’s clash with Aberdeen in the Europa League on Thursday night.
FCSB vs Aberdeen (Thursday, 19:30)
Both seeking to reach the league phase of the Europa League, FCSB and Aberdeen will contest the second leg of their play-off tie at the National Arena on Thursday night.
This tie is delicately poised ahead of this week’s return match after the pair played out a pulsating 2-2 draw at Pittodrie last Thursday.
FCSB have since slumped to a shock 2-0 defeat at home to Arges in the Romanian top-flight on Sunday night.
As for Aberdeen, they exercised their right to postpone their Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee United on Sunday to allow them maximum time to prepare for this week’s crunch second leg in the Romanian capital.
The bookies odds suggest that FCSB will punch their ticket to the league stage on Thursday night with minimum fuss, with a home win priced up a general 8/11 with most firms.
However, an alternative angle of attack that I’m attracted to here is for the hosts to score two or more goals at 4/5 on Bet 365.
As mentioned, the hosts hit two goals during last week’s first leg with Aberdeen in the Granite City, something they managed to do despite going down to 10 men during the first-half.
It’s also worth noting that Elias Charalambous’s side struck three times in each leg of their third round tie with Drita.
In fact, the Red and Blues have racked up multiple strikes in four of their last six matches across all competitions.
That doesn’t augur well for an Aberdeen team that have looked far from convincing from a defensive perspective during the early weeks of the season.
The Dons’ defence have conceded multiple goals in each of their opening two games of the new Scottish Premiership season, while they also shipped a couple of strikes when hosting FCSB last time out.
So with all that in mind, I’m more than happy to back FCSB to fire in at least two goals against their Scottish guests on Thursday night.
