SlipsTips shares two selections ahead of Inverness' clash with Peterhead in Scottish League One on Saturday afternoon.
Inverness vs Peterhead (Saturday, 15:00)
Both seeking to make it two wins from two in Scottish League One, Inverness will play host to Peterhead on Saturday afternoon.
The Caley Jags made a positive start to their league campaign last Saturday, cruising to a 3-0 win away at Kelty Hearts.
Similarly, Peterhead also started their league season on a high note, putting fellow newly-promoted side East Fife to the sword with a 4-1 victory last weekend.
William Hill make Inverness 19/20 favourites on Saturday afternoon, and I’m more than happy to back the hosts to take top honours at that price.
While Peterhead picked up an impressive victory last weekend, they could hardly have asked for a tougher opening away trip at ante-post title favourites Inverness this weekend.
Not only did Scott Kellacher’s side hit the ground running with last Saturday's aforementioned 3-0 victory over Kelty, they also put in some impressive performances during the group stage of the Scottish League Cup.
Caley claimed an emphatic 6-2 win away at East Kilbride, not to mention they also made light work of Elgin with a 2-0 home success.
Latest opponents Peterhead will represent a similar standard of opposition to that of the above-mentioned duo, and I expect Inverness’ superior class to tell, particularly given their strong recruitment over the summer.
It’s also worth noting that Peterhead lost each of their four matches during the group phase of the Scottish League Cup, losing to the likes of Clyde and Stenhousemuir.
With all that in mind, I’m more than happy to back the Highlanders to emerge from this contest victorious at a shade under even-money.
I’m also more than happy to propose a separate play on Inverness to score two or more goals, also at 19/20 with William Hill.
Peterhead have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their opening five matches of the season, with the Blue Toon’s backline being breached twice or more in three of those contests.
