MFT SlipsTips Safe 01

After delivering a clean sweep of winners in his featured column last weekend, SlipsTips is back with two selections from the Scottish Championship on Saturday.

Ayr vs Raith Rovers (Saturday, 15:00)

Ayr United and Raith Rovers square off at Somerset Park in the Scottish Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The Honest Men appear to have benefited from a new manager bounce, with Scott Brown steering his side to two wins in three of his league games in charge, most recently triumphing 3-2 away at Airdrie.

As for Raith Rovers, they roared back into the Scottish Championship title race last Friday night by beating league leaders Dundee United 2-1 at Starks Park.

Understandably, Ian Murray’s men make the trip to Ayrshire as 6/5 favourites, however I’m happy to opt for an alternative angle by siding with Over 2.5 Match goals at 19/20 with Bet 365.

Ayr have looked a much more forward-thinking outfit during the early weeks of  Scott Brown’s tenure, having scored in each of their three league games so far, all of which have broken the Over 2.5 goal barrier.

However, at the other end of the park, the Honest Men have yet to bag a clean sheet for their new boss and they may have to wait another week to do so given the attacking threat Raith Rovers carry.

Ian Murray’s team have had plenty of success in terms of their attacking output this season, notching in 21 of their 23 league games this term to date, with 15 of those fixtures featuring three or more match strikes, including 10 of their last 12.

That trend can also be attributed to the fact that Rovers have recorded a mere four clean sheets across their 23 second tier tussles this season so far, with the Kirkcaldy club failing to silence their opponents in nine of their of their 11 road games.

It’s also worth pointing out that the pair played out a pulsating 4-4 draw at Starks Park just a couple of months ago, not to mention the previous meeting at this venue earlier in the season also generated three match strikes.

With all the ingredients in place for another end-to-end clash between the two sides on Saturday, siding with Over 2. 5 Goals at Somerset stands out at 19/20 (Bet 365).

Elsewhere, I’m also going to propose a small play on Anton Dowds to get on the scoresheet at an eye-catching 5/2 on Bet 365.

The Ayr United hitman hit a hat-trick in last week’s 3-2 success at Airdrie and he looks overpriced to just register one strike here against a Raith Rovers reargaurd that rarely keeps their sheets clean.

Recommended Bets

  • Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20 (Bet 365)
  • Anton Dowds Anytime Goalscorer – 5/2 (Bet 365)
