SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Nottingham Forest’s crunch clash with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea (Sunday, 16:00)
Nottingham Forest and Chelsea face off in a crucial fixture in terms of the battle to finish in the top-five of the Premier League at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon.
With just one round of fixtures remaining, Forest will have to win and rely on results elsewhere going their way if they are to punch their ticket to Europe’s premier club competition next season.
As for Chelsea, their fate lies in their own hands as a City Ground success would see them secure a return to the Champions League.
Elliot Anderson To Commit 1+ Foul
For the first of two player-based selections, I’m going with Elliot Anderson to commit a minimum of one foul. The Nottingham Forest midfielder has been a frequent offender in the Premier League this season, averaging 1.63 fouls per game. What’s more, Anderson has been guilty of at least one offence in 12 of his last 13 top-flight appearances, not to mention he gave away two free-kicks against Chelsea in this season’s reverse fixture.
In what is sure to be an intense midfield battleground at the City Ground on Sunday, Anderson is likely to cross paths with Chelsea foul-magnet Enzo Fernandez.
Enzo Fernandez To Be Fouled 1 or More Times
Given the aforementioned Enzo Fernandez’s knack for drawing fouls from the opposition, I’m more than happy to back the Chelsea ace to earn his side a minimum of one set-piece on Sunday. The fiery Argentine midfielder has drawn a sizable 1.61 fouls per game in the top-flight this term. In fact, Fernandez has been fouled once or more in each of his last 17 outings in the Premier League, including two or more times in seven of his last eight appearances away from Stamford Bridge.
That sequence could well continue on Sunday with Fernandez expected to be in a direct battle with the aforementioned Anderson and Ibrahim Sangare.
Over 3.5 Cards
Given what’s at stake for both clubs on Sunday, I’m keen to conclude the Bet Builder with four or more cards. No team has received more yellow cards than Chelsea (100) in this season’s Premier League, while Nottingham Forest are not too far behind with their own crime count of 86. There were no fewer than eight yellow cards and one red card dished out when the pair squared off at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, and tempers could well boil over again given the magnitude of this match.
While referee Anthony Taylor is not renowned for taking a card-happy approach, he has cleared the over 3.5 bookings line in six of the last nine contests that he has taken charge of across all competitions.
