Fighting it out for a semi-final spot at the European Championships, Sweden Women and England Women lock horns at Letzigrund on Thursday night.
Sweden were well-nigh flawless during the group stage, claiming top honours from each of their three fixtures.
As for England, they placed second in Group D, defeating both the Netherlands and Wales after kicking off their campaign with a 2-1 loss to France.

For the first leg of what is a Bet Builder double, I’m backing England to score a minimum of one goal on Thursday night. The Lionesses made the net bulge in each of their three group games, racking up 11 strikes across their three fixtures – a tally bettered only by tournament outright favourites Spain (14). That means Sarina Wiegman’s side have scored a minimum of one goal in 23 of their last 24 matches across all competitions – a sequence that stretches all the way back to August 2023.
While Sweden conceded just one goal during the group phase, it was against Germany, and it would be fair to say that they now face a tougher test against current European champions England. It’s also worth noting that Peter Gerhardsson’s side failed to keep a clean sheet during their Euro 2025 qualifier away at England.
Over 0 Sweden Cards
I’ll conclude the Bet Builder double by throwing a minimum of one Sweden card into the equation. While cards were in short supply across the competition during the group stage, I suspect that will change now that we are entering the knockout rounds of the competition. Sweden did collect one card in their matchday two victory over Poland, and they will have a lot more defensive work to get through when they pit their wits against star-studded England.
What’s more, the Lionesses have drawn a minimum one card from two of their three opponents at this summer’s European Championships, with both France and the Netherlands tackling their way into trouble against Wiegman’s talented team.
