MANCHESTER CITY have dropped points on their last two away days in the Premier League so that will give Wolverhampton Wanderers a bit of hope as they welcome the champions to Molineux.
Pep Guardiola's men have been looking impressive in the first few weeks of the new season and are odds-on favourites for the title with new boy Erling Haaland in such lethal form up front.
But they have coughed up four points on the road in draws against Newcastle and Aston Villa, showing that their defence can still be a bit vulnerable.
With Premier League games postponed last weekend due to the death of the Queen, City had a week to prepare for their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund and Haaland scored a dramatic winner as they came from behind to win 2-1.
My bet for a Kevin De Bruyne assist came up but now it's back to their domestic title defence and a tricky game against a Wolves side who got off the mark last time out with a 1-0 Molineux win over Southampton.
Scoring goals has been a problem for Bruno Lage's men, with just three netted in their six league games so far, but they have been tight at the back, conceding only four times.
That well-drilled defence faces the ultimate test here though as Haaland spearheads a City attack that has been scoring for fun this season.
How the bookies view it
It's no great surprise to see Manchester City as odds-on favourites here and their best price is just 6/17 at SBK. Wolves are as big as 9/1 with Ladbrokes and the draw pays 24/5 at SBK.
Recent head to head
Wolverhampton Wanderers memorably beat Manchester City twice in season 2019/20, with a 3-2 triumph at Molineux following up a 2-0 Etihad triumph. But Guardiola's side have been back on top in the last two seasons, winning all four meetings. They romped to a 5-1 victory on their last trip to Molineux, with De Bruyne scoring four.
Players to watch
Haaland's odds for anytime scorer are way too short at 4/6 (Bet365) so I'm looking elsewhere. Bernardo Silva chips in with plenty of goals from midfield and he's a tempting 17/5 at Unibet for a goal here after coming off the bench in midweek.
The speed of Pedro Neto will be key for Wolves as they look to catch City on the break. The Portuguese winger hasn't scored so far this season and is 11/2 at Paddy Power to break his duck.
Anything else catch the eye?
With Wolves struggling in front of goal, it could pay to go against BTTS in this one, with that bet paying 22/23 at SBK. Lage's side will likely sit deep and that make corners a good option, with City -4 paying 11/10 in the handicap (BetVictor).
Four yellows were flashed at Wolves players in their last home game so the card markets are also worth a look. Over 3.5 match cards pays 11/10 at Unibet while home stopper Nathan Collins is 15/4 to be carded with the same firm.
