Villarreal will take on Las Palmas on Monday, 30 September in the final La Liga match of the weekend.
The hosts have had an impressive start to the campaign and currently sit on 14 points after their opening seven matches.
Las Palmas, meanwhile, have had a much worse start than their opponents and as things stand, they are the only team in La Liga to have not won a much this campaign.
How the bookies view it: The hosts go in as favourites
Villarreal come into this one as the favourites but considering the visitors are yet to win this season, the Yellow Submarine aren't as short as you might expect. A win for Villarreal has been priced at 4/9 while a victory for Las Palmas has been priced at 6/1. The draw, which would be a good result for the visitors, has been priced at 18/5.
Recent head-to-head: A surprising trend
Although Villarreal are a much bigger football club than Las Palmas, they have found matches against them very difficult in recent times. Last season, Las Palmas won both matches against Villarreal, recording a 2-1 win in the away match and an emphatic 3-0 win at home. Those two results mean Villarreal haven't beaten Las Palmas since 2018.
Players to watch: Perez flourishing at his new club
Ayoze Perez has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season with his new club, Villarreal, following his move from Real Betis in the summer. Perez has always been a player highly rated in Spain but he has never looked as prolific in front of goal as he has done in recent weeks.
There were concerns that the Yellow Submarine would suffer this season in the absence of Alexander Sorloth after the Norweigan signed for Atletico Madrid. However, Perez's six goals in seven matches have seen him become the first name on the teamsheet at Villarreal and made Sorloth nothing more than a distant memory.
While Perez is Villarreal's most likely goalscorer on Monday night, Sandro is the man most likely to get on the scoresheet for the away team. The 29-year-old has scored three goals so far this season, already eclipsing his total for last season.
Predicted line-ups
Villarreal's injury list isn't getting any shorter with five players definitely out for this one and Raul Albiol a further doubt. Three players are out for Las Palmas, with Scott Mckenna, Marvin Park and Scott Mckenna all injured.
Villarreal: Conde – Femenia, Bailly, Costa, Cardona – Akomach, Gueye, Comesana, Baena – Perez, Barry
Las Palmas: Cillessen – Rozada, Herzog, Munoz, Sinkgraven – Loiodice, Essugo, Rodriguez – Sandro, McBurnie, Moleiro
Anything else catch the eye?
Villarreal have been one of the most entertaining teams in La Liga this season and all but one of their matches have seen more than two goals scored. Las Palmas are also quite an open team, which in many ways has been their downfall this season, so expect more goals on Monday. Over 2.5 goals to be scored on Monday night has been priced at 8/15 by Betfred.
