ENGLAND will look to take another step towards Euro 2024 when they take on Ukraine at the Tarczyński Arena on Saturday evening.
Gareth Southgate's side kicked off their campaign with an eye-catching 2-1 win over Italy in Naples before earning an efficient 2-0 win over Ukraine at Webley just three days later
The Three Lions have since recorded landslide 4-0 and 7-0 wins over both Malta and North Macedonia respectively to put themselves in pole position at the summit of the Group C standings.
Southgate and Co will now look to put even more daylight between themselves and the chasing pack by claiming top honours against Ukraine this weekend.
After starting their own quest to qualify with the aforementioned 2-0 loss to England, Sergiy Rebrov’s side went on to stage a dramatic second-half comeback to beat North Macedonia 3-2.
The Blue and Yellow followed up on that success with a laboured to a 1-0 win over minnows Malta, a victory that saw them move into second place in the pool in the process.
Outright Betting
Ukraine are big outsiders at 8/1 (Bet 365) as they bid to make it three wins on the bounce while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 10/3 (Bet 365).
England are short priced 2/5/ (Ladbrokes) favourites to make it five wins from five in Group C.
Betting Angles
It goes without saying that England are too short to side with here, so I'm going to bypass the outright betting and instead head to the goalscorer market.
Harry Kane has been priced up as an 11/10 (William Hill) shot to get on the scoresheet here and I'm more than happy to back the England skipper to strike at that price.
Earlier this year Kane became England's record goalscorer when he notched in the aforementioned 2-1 win over Italy before striking in the subsequent fixture against this weekend's opponents Ukraine.
The England talisman has since struck against Malta, only to then helped himself to a brace against North Macedonia, and he looks primed to extend that sequence in Poland.
What's more, Kane has made a scintillating start to life in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich having banged in three goals in as many games, so he should be brimming with confidence ahead of his return to the international stage.
None of that bodes well for a Ukraine side that conceded twice against North Macedonia last time out, not to mention the hosts will once again be disadvantaged due to the fact that they will not be playing in familiar surroundings.
Compounding matters for the the Blue and Yellow is the fact that they have a number of injuries to contend with at present, with the likes of Mykola Shaparenko and Ruslan Malinovskyi set to miss out against the Three Lions.
With all that in mind, backing Harry Kane to add another goal to his record-breaking England tally on Saturday evening stands out at an enticing 11/10 (William Hill).
