THE Tottenham Hotspur Stadium plays host to a London derby on Sunday afternoon as Spurs square-off with fierce rivals West Ham.
Jose Mourinho's men dished out a 6-1 mauling to Man United at Old Trafford a fortnight ago – a performance that has since seen some pundits tip Tottenham to make a charge for the title this term.
The self proclaimed “Special One” was brought to North London to bring Tottenham's 12 year trophy drought to an end and their recent road shows, coupled with some shrewd Summer signings, will see the Spurs faithful head into the remainder of the season full of hope.
Having said that, Tottenham have taken just one point from a possible six on home turf thus far, so they will be desperately seeking some home comfort when they lock horns with West Ham this weekend.
The Hammers head across the capital in red-hot form having brilliantly dismantled both Wolves (4-0) and Leicester (0-3) in each of their last two fixtures.
West Ham's pre-season was blighted with hostility, however, two thumping wins before the international break will have helped lift the mood at the London Stadium.
Outright Betting
Tottenham have avoided defeat in nine of their last 10 Premier League fixtures and the hosts are heavily fancied on Sunday at 8/13 with BetVictor.
West Ham were the first-ever visiting team to triumph at this venue and repeat this weekend is trading at 19/4 with Bet 365, while a share of the spoils is priced up at 10/3 with UniBet.
Betting Angles
Goals have been in short supply during recent Premier League matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – each of the last three fixtures at this venue have featured less than three strikes.
West Ham, meanwhile, have seen each of their last three league matches produce over 2.5 goals, so something has to give with the goal line during this London derby.
The bookies are certainly expecting goals to be on the menu and that is reflected in the 4/6 on offer with Bet 365 for both teams to score, while over 2.5 match strikes is slightly shorter at 8/13 with the same firm.
Combining the above-mentioned prices makes appeal at Even-Money with Bet 365, however, I'm going to opt for an alternative angle when making use of Bet 365's Bet Builder feature.
The combination that I like the look of is Spurs to score, over three Spurs corners and over one West Ham card, a Bet Builder that will present us with a tempting 10/11 punt.
Mourinho has some serious firepower at his disposal – Tottenham have made the net bulge 13 times across their last two outings – and I fully expect Spurs to strike on Sunday in a fixture that has a history of being quite fiery.
With that in mind, I'm happy to back the Hammers to collect at least two cards during this contest and it's also worth noting that the above-mentioned Bet Builder clicked when these two rivals battled it out back in June.
I'm also going to opt for another Bet Builder with the view to backing goals and cards and the alternative angle that I'm going to have a play on is over one match goal and West Ham to collect over one card at 20/23 with Bet 365
Taking this approach would have banked profit in each of Spurs' last three top-flight tussles and it would have also landed in West Ham's eye-catching 3-0 win away at Leicester last time out.
