St Johnstone host Aberdeen at the weekend as both teams get back to league action after successful Scottish Cup adventures.
The Dons cruised through against shock troops Queen's Park, who had of course famously knocked out Rangers at Ibrox in the last round.
And Saints overcame a potentially tricky tie at Championship high-fliers Livingston with a narrow win which was possibly a tad fortunate.
But in the Premiership, both sides are in fascinating battles of their own.
Aberdeen are in an almighty scramble with Hibs and Dundee United for third place that looks like it could go down to the wire.
After coming through a nightmare spell where they couldn't buy a win, Jimmy Thelin's men have perked up again and look like they are on course to end the season strongly.
For St Johnstone, survival is the only thing that matters. They have crept to within three points of Dundee although they remain bottom of the table.
But there's no doubt manager Simo Valakari had revitalised them after they looked down and out and they surely now have a real fighting chance of staying up.
How the bookies view it: Dons favourites for win
Aberdeen are 6/5 favourites with Boylesports, with the Saints 9/4 underdogs and te draw 2/1 with the same firm.
Recent head to heads: Aberdeen have the edge
Aberdeen eased to a 2-1 win in Perth back in those heady days at the start of the season if you are a Dons fan.
However, St Johnstone did claim a point in a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie in December.
Aberdeen are unbeaten in their last four visits to McDiarmid Park.
Players to watch: Nisbet in great form
Graham Carey was St Johnstone's hero when he scored an outstanding goal against Livingston on Monday. The Irish midfielder is 24/5 to repeat that Unibet.
Kevin Nisbet's excellent recent form won him a Scotland recall during the week. He has ten goals for the season now including five in his last six. He is surely some value at 49/20 with UniBet to score anytime.
Predicted line-ups:
Saints are set to be without injured duo Bozo Mikulic and Victor Griffith.
Aberdeen are still missing Jamie McGrath and Vicente Besuijen. Jack MacKenzie is back fit again.
St Johnstone: Fisher, Balodis, Mitchell, Douglas, Duke-McKenna, Holt, Sprangler, Sidibeh, Svedberg, Carey, Kirk.
Aberdeen: Mitov, Jensen, Tobers, Knoester, Shinnie, Clarkson, Palaversa, Keskinen, Nisbet, Morris, Dabbagh.
Anything else catch the eye?
This is unlikely to be a classic and you don't usually get too many goals between these sides, but Aberdeen look to be back on track and can edge out the Saints here.
Thelin looks to have found a decent formula by shifting captain Graeme Shinnie to left back which has freed up more creativity in the middle. They can claim a narrow win in Perth.
Over 2.5 goals have come in just one in the last 15 meetings between the sides and another low scoring looks to be on the cards here. Boylesports' 4/5 looks a solid bet.
Aberdeen play with width and can get plenty of corners, esecially with Shayden Morris taking on defenfers down the wing. St Johnstone basically don't do corners as they showed in midweek when they won none at Livingston.
Back the Dons on the corners handicap at -1/5 at a nice price of 6/4 with Boylesports.
