Sevilla vs Getafe

, KO: 17:30 Sep 14, 2024, Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium
Getafe

Sevilla will take on Getafe on Saturday, 14 September as La Liga returns following the first international break of the new season.

Neither team have started the new season well but Sevilla will perhaps be the more concerned of the two teams having won none of their first four matches of the season.

Getafe, meanwhile, are also winless so far but they have played a game less than Sevilla so their situation is marginally less precarious than their opponent's.

How the bookies view it: Sevilla start as favourites

Perhaps on reputation alone, Sevilla are still considered the team most likely to walk away with three points from this one on Saturday. Betfred aren't overly confident, though, and have priced a home win at 6/5 while an away win has been priced at 11/4. The draw, which wouldn't really be beneficial for anyone here, has been priced at 2/1.

Recent head-to-head: A mixed bag

The recent head-to-head record between Sevilla and Getafe is rather mixed with both teams enjoying victories over the other in the past couple of seasons. Sevilla have own three of the last five meetings while Getafe have won the other two.

Interestingly, there hasn't been a draw in this fixture since 2018 so we should expect a result one way or the other on Saturday.

Players to watch: Time for the forwards to step up to the mark

It's been a sorry start to the season for both clubs and most of the blame can be put on the shoulders of the forwards. Sevilla have only scored one goal in their last three matches while Getafe have only scored one goal all season.

The man tasked with leading the Sevilla line is currently Isaac Romero. The 24-year-old came through the ranks at the club but has only featured regularly for the first team over the past couple of seasons. He scored four league goals last season and is yet to score this season. Questions are being asked of him and rightly so.

For Getafe, their main striker at the moment due to injuries is Carles Perez – a man who has never been prolific throughout his career. He has been all over Europe but has never scored more than three league goals in a single season. He is yet to score for his new club and looking at his numbers, he might be waiting a while yet.

Predicted line-ups

Sevilla are without several key players for this one which perhaps goes some way to explaining their slow start to the campaign. Loic Bade, Albert Lokonga, Suso and Saul Niguez are all missing for this one. Getafe are missing several players themselves, including Omar Alderete and Borja Mayoral.

Sevilla: Nyland – Carmona, Marcao, Salas, Barco – Agoume, Juanlu, Sow – Lukebakio, Ejuke, Romero

Getafe: Soria – Iglesias, Djene, Aberdin, Rico – Milla, Arambarri, Alena – Perez, Sola, Uche

Anything else catch the eye?

As mentioned, goals have been a serious problem for both teams so don't expect a classic. Sevilla's last two matches have seen fewer than three goals scored while the same can be said for all three of Getafe's matches this season. Under 2.5 goals to be scored has been priced at 1/2 by Betfred.
