Scotland vs Finland

, KO: 19:45 Jun 7, 2024, Hampden Park
Finland

SCOTLAND play their final Euro 2024 warm-up match on Friday night with a game against Finland at Hampden Park.

To be frank, optimism has been battered out of Tartan Army recently with the amount of injuries that have hit Scotland.

Lyndon Dykes and exciting Liverpool winger Ben Doak were the latest to add to the likes of Aaron Hickey, Nathan Patterson and Lewis Ferguson.

On the pitch, it has hardly inspired confidence either with a lacklustre 2-0 win in Portugal against Gibraltar on Monday which, while it at least ended a seven-game winless streak, was not exactly sending out a warning to the rest of Europe.

This is supposed to be a morale-boosting send-off, but it could be tricky against a Finnish side who gave Portugal a game earlier this week in a 4-2 defeat.

Finland are an unpredictable lot – they can produce some highs, like beating Northern Ireland 4-0 at home and plenty of lows like losing 4-1 to Wales in the Euros play-offs and only beating San Marino 2-1.

Manager Markku Kanerva is leaving too and this could be his last game.

How the bookies view it: Scotland solid good things

Scotland are strong favourites here with bet365 at 13/20. The Finns can be backed at 15/4 and the draw is 31/10.

Recent head to heads: Scotland perfect so far

The nations have surprisingly only played each other twice and Scotland both home and away in the Euro 96 qualifiers.

Players to watch: Che a class act

Che Adams looks nailed on to start for Scotland at the Euro 2024 opener in Germany after scoring against Gibraltar when Lawrence Shankland didn't do himself any favours. The Southampton man is 15/8 to score anytime with bet365.

Former Celtic striker Teemu Pukki now plays for Minnesota United and he grabbed his 42nd international goal with a double against Portugal. He is 4/1 to score anytime.

Predicted line-ups:

As stated, Scotland have so many injury problems, although Steve Clarke did call-up Bristol City's Tommy Conway after the striker netted for the Under 21s in Turkey this week.

Finland are missing one of their star men with Robert Taylor electing to stay with Inter Miami and former Rangers star Glen Kamara out too.

Scotland: Gunn, Hanley, Robertson, McCrorie, Porteous, Forrest, McLean, McGinn, Christie, Gilmour, Adams.

Finland: Hradecky, Soiri, R. Jensen, Hoskonen, Lod, Niskanen, Pukki, Nissila, Suhonen, Kallman, Antman.

Anything else catch the eye?

You just can't be lumping on Scotland at such a short price and the value here looks to be a draw at a big price.

Finland are stuffy opponents and if Scotland could only manage two goals against Gibraltar after 25 shots on goal, they are unlikely to hit the goal trail against a better side.

Scotland will be relieved to come out of this one with no new injuries and a draw wouldn't be the end of the world.

The hosts do like a corner and even have a dedicated set-piece expert in Austin MacPhee to use them as a weapon.

So with bet365 setting the bar extremely low at just over eight needed at evens, that seems a solid shout.

This match between Scotland and Finland will be played on Jun 7, 2024 and kick off at 19:45. Check below for our tipsters best Scotland vs Finland prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
