ROSS COUNTY gave themselves a huge boost last week in their battle to avoid the drop and have another home game this week against Motherwell.
Don Cowie has done a fine job with the Staggies after taking over from the disastrous Derek Adams' spell and there's no doubt where their strength lies – at their Highlands fortress.
County have now beaten Hearts, Rangers and Hibs in Dingwall in their last three home games, which is hugely impressive. It's their away form which is the problem. And that win against Hibs saw them climb above St Johnstone into tenth place and crucially two points clear of the dreaded relegation play-off spot.
Motherwell relegated Livingston last week with a 4-1 win and they can enjoy themselves for the last three games of the season with little to play for. It's a return for Stuart Kettlewell to his former club and he can also be satisfied about the job he's done at Lanarkshire this season.
How the bookies view it: Nothing between the teams
There's the proverbial Rizla paper between the teams in terms of most of the betting here. And in fact, both teams have 7/4 as the best price for a win with UniBet offering that for a home win and UniBet for an away win. The draw is 12/5 with McBookie.com.
Previous head to heads: Joy for both teams this term
Both Ross County and Motherwell have enjoyed thumping home wins this season – Well won 5-0 at Fir Park and County 3-0 at Victoria Park. They also drew 3-3 in Lanarkshire back in October.
Players to watch: Murray and Bair on song
In-form striker Simon Murray needs one goal for his 20th of the season after scoring against former club Hibs last week. He's netted five goals in six games and is a very tempting 12/5 to score anytime with bet365.
Theo Bair has been in sensational form for Well this season and his double against Livingston last week was his 15th of the season with all of them in the league. The Canadian international striker is 11/5 to score anytime with UniBet.
Probable line-ups:
Motherwell have a clean bill of health and it's hard to see them changing last week's winning line-up. Jack Vale is back after last week's suspension. Will Nightingale returned last week after a three-month break for County.
Ross County: Laidlaw, Randall, Baldwin, Leak, Efete, Nightingale, Reid, King, Dhanda, Brophy, Murray
Motherwell: Kelly, O'Donnell, McGinn, Casey, Blaney, Gent, Miller, Halliday, Spittal, Nicholson, Bair
Anything else catch the eye? A draw in Dingwall looks the call
Ross County have been in stunning form at home and it may just save them from their second play-off battle in a row, but they have to settle for a draw here against a decent Well side, who haven't lost to a bottom six side since their last visit to Dingwall in December.
Motherwell can enjoy their trip north with little to play for and it would be something of a surprise if there aren't goals at both ends here
Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 11/10 with Boylseports looks a solid enough call too.
