Roma vs Ludogorets

, KO: 20:00 Nov 3, 2022, Stadio Olimpico
Ludogorets

It is a straight shootout for second place in Group C of the Europa League as Roma host Ludogorets. Both teams are level on seven points but the Italians will be confident of coming out on top at home.

Roma are currently third in the group but have a straightforward task as they head into Thursday’s Group C finale. They are level on seven points with Ludogorets and know a win will see them leapfrog the Bulgarians and progress to the knockout phase.

The Italians have picked up their form in the Europa League lately and are unbeaten in their last two matches. They claimed a 2-1 victory at HJK Helsinki in their previous fixture with Tammy Abraham among the goals.

Roma’s overall form has been pretty solid in recent weeks as they are unbeaten in five of their last six matches across all competitions. Jose Mourinho’s men have claimed four wins in that run, including a 3-1 victory at Verona in a Monday night Serie A fixture.

Ludogorets are also on seven points in Group C but their task is a bit simpler than Roma’s. Having already beaten the Italians in the reverse fixture, all that is required is to maintain a superior head to head record by avoiding defeat on Thursday.

The Bulgarians suffered a 1-0 defeat to group winners Real Betis in their previous Europa League fixture. However, they bounced back in fine style, claiming a 3-1 victory over Septemvri Sofia in a domestic clash last Sunday.

One problem for Ludogorets as they travel to Roma is a poor record on their recent travels. Ante Simundza’s men have won just once in their last four matches on the road across all competitions and are also on a nine-match winless run away from home in the Europa League stretching back to 2020.

How the bookies view it

Roma are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a home win priced at 1/3 by Sport Nation. A victory for Ludogorets is valued at 10/1 by Coral while a draw is set at odds of 4/1 by Paddy Power.

Head to head

The reverse fixture is the only previous meeting between Roma and Ludogorets with the Bulgarians claiming a 2-1 victory.

Players to watch

Despite struggling to find his best form this season, Tammy Abraham could still be worth keeping an eye on for Roma on Thursday. The striker was on target last time out at Helsinki and is priced at evens by Betfred to score anytime.

Ludogorets will look to Matias Tissera to provide the spark in attack having scored four goals in his last seven matches across all competitions. William Hill has the Argentine forward at odds of 24/5 to find the net on Thursday.

Anything else catch the eye?

Both teams were on target in the reverse fixture and could be set for a repeat at evens with bet365. There were also over 2.5 goals in that clash and a similar outcome is valued at 5/8 with 10bet while over 3.5 goals is set at odds of 13/8 by BetVictor.

With Roma priced at minimal odds for a straight victory, a win and over 2.5 goals should be considered for more value at 10/11 with bet365.
