Roma's mediocrity continues and Ivan Juric's position remains at risk and Bologna aim to make it even worse.
One more defeat would make this Roma's worst season start in 20 years. The Giallorossi have been alternating all possible results lately, with their last 10 consisting of three wins, three draws, and four defeats. Roma have not won two games in a row since April this year when they beat Milan twice in the Europa League.
The last few weeks have been the most difficult yet, with two huge blows in Seria A with 3-2 to Verona and 5-1 to Fiorentina. Their only positive is that they won three of their last four home games, so playing at Stadio Olimpico seems to be their best hope to win.
Bologna finally reminded us why they finished in Top 4 last season, winning back-to-back games in Serie A against Lecce and Cagliari. These wins ended their unprecedented streak of six draws in a row in the league.
They are an unusual case but the positive side is that they only lost once in the domestic league so far and currently sit above Roma in the table.
How the bookies view it: We see some mistakes in the odds
Roma have been given the advantage in odds, although they only beat Bologna twice at home in the last five seasons. Betano gave them 11/10 to win on Sunday, while the visitors sit at 11/4. You can also pick the draw at 9/4.
Recent head to head: Surprisingly evenly matched?
Despite their recent finish among the four best, Bologna hardly qualifies as a top team, but they have been one of Roma's toughest rivals. The team from the Eternal City has only four wins against Bologna in the last 10 H2Hs, while the visitors also scored four wins. More importantly, Bologna won the last two from the previous campaign, including a 2-0 at home and a 1-3 away.
Players to watch: Is Pellegrini the solution?
It is hard to single out a safe pick when we have two teams that clearly lack firepower at the moment. Roma may need some of Lorenzo Pellegrini's magic again, as he scored the winning goal the last time the Wolves beat Bologna in 2023.
Artem Dovbyk is always dangerous in the final third but his form since joining Roma has been disappointing. The Ukrainian scored 24 goals in 36 appearances for Girona last season but has only found his way to four for Roma so far.
Probable line-ups
Roma: Svilar, Mancini, Cristante, Angelino, Celik, Kone, Le Fee, Zalewsky, Pellegrini, Dovbyk, Dybala
Bologna: Skorupski, Posch, Beukema, Lucumi, Miranda, Freuler, Fabian, Moro, Iling, Castro, Ndoye
Anything else catch the eye?
Bologna's only defeat in Serie A this season came against Napoli and Roma are quite far from them right now. Betting on the Giallorossi to win would be a mistake, although it is not impossible.
I Rossoblu have mastered the art of not losing and given Roma's struggles in front of the goal, we do not expect this to be one of the exciting matchups this weekend. A 0-0 is absolutely possible but we would rather go for the 1-1 draw.
