THE FA Cup resumes this weekend and the first quarter-final tie comes from Carrow Road on Saturday evening where Norwich meet Man United.
Both sides have enjoyed very contrasting seasons to date, with the hosts marooned at the bottom of the Premier League while Man United are fiercely competing for a top-four finish.
Rock-bottom Norwich restarted their campaign with back-to-back home defeats against Southampton and Everton and respectively – a double blow that has all but confirmed a quickfire return to the Championship for the Canaries.
Indeed, there is much to be admired about seeing a newly-promoted side attacking with plenty of spirit and Danile Farke's side will once again play without fear when they meet Man United this weekend.
United, meanwhile, have been motoring since the turn of the year, having gone 13 games unbeaten across all competitions.
The Red Devils resumed their season with a well-deserved 1-1 draw away at Tottenham last Friday before making light work of Sheffield United in midweek to maintain a run of form which has brought a real sense of optimism back to Old Trafford.
Outright Betting
Norwich are big outsiders at 6/1 with William Hill while the draw – an outcome that would force extra-time and potential penalty-kicks – is priced up at 16/5 with the same bookmaker.
Man United have avoided defeat in seven of their last eight meetings with Norwich and the Red Devils are heavily fancied on Saturday at a best 8/15 with SportingBet.
Betting Angles
I spoke about this fixture on this week's edition of the Gambla Betting Podcast with view to backing at least a couple of Man United goals on Saturday evening.
Indeed, there is little value in siding with two or more United strikes at 4/7 with Bet 365, however, adding one or more Norwich cards will boost the price up to a much-more backable 20/21 with Bet 365.
The Red Devils ran out comfortable winners in both league meetings this season, winning 3-1 at Carrow Road before cruising to a 4-0 success at Old Trafford.
The Canaries have been conceding goals at an extremely high rate all season and with Farke's strugglers expected to be on the back-foot for long spells during this bout, I'm happy to combine a Norwich card alongside two or more Man United goals.
What's more, ten of the 15 visiting sides to this venue in the Premier League this term have notched at least twice and in-form Man United possess more than enough firepower to follow suit.
That line of thought has also lured me towards backing Man United to win and over 1.5 goals at 4/5 with Bet 365 – a bet that would have banked profit in nine of the Red Devils last 13 outings.
Norwich have struggled for shutouts all season but they are also the lowest scorers in the Premier League this term and that adds to the appeal of combining an away success with over 1.5 match goals.
With fixtures coming thick and fast, we may well see some squad rotation form the Red Devils on Saturday, however, the visitors still have an abundance of attacking quality in reserve and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be itching for a first major trophy as Man United manager.
