Motherwell vs Hibernian

, KO: 13:30 Jan 8, 2023, Fir Park
Hibernian

TWO Scottish Premiership sides struggling for form face off at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon, as Motherwell host Hibernian.

The Steelmen's relegation fears have intensified following a wretched run of just one win from their last 10 top-flight fixtures.

While Stevie Hammell's side earned a 1-1 draw at Livingston last time out, they remain just three points above bottom club Ross County.

As such, Hammell and Co will be hoping that they can give their season a much-needed shot in the arm when out-of-sorts Hibernian come calling this weekend.

Hibees boss Lee Johnson is a man under mounting pressure after his side suffered a 3-0 drubbing from Hearts in what was a dismal Edinburgh derby showing.

That capital crushing means the Leith outfit have lost nine of their last 11 league games, so much so that they will now be rather nervously looking over their shoulder at the sides housed below them.

Outright Betting

The bookmakers are struggling to separate the teams, with Motherwell narrow outsiders at 17/10 (PaddyPower) while a share of the spoils can be backed at 11/5 (Bet 365).

Despite losing each of their last six Scottish Premiership away matches, Hibernian head to North Lanarkshire as 13/8 (PaddyPower) favourites.

Betting Angles

It's difficult to have too much faith in either team here from a 1×2 perspective, but backing Both Teams to Score looks like a tempting enough alternative at 10/11 (Bet 365).

Although both of these teams are bang out form, the pair have had plenty of success in terms of their attacking output this season, with Motherwell making the net bulge in 15 of their 19 Scottish Premiership assignments so far, while Hibs have hit the back of the net in 14 of their 20 assignments to date.

However, at the other end of the park, both the Steelmen and the Hibees have demonstrated a fairly regular inability to keep the back door shut, with the hosts filing just one clean sheet across their last 10 games, while Lee Johnson's side have just two shutouts to their name over the same stretch of games.

It's also worth pointing out that BTTS has paid out in five of Motherwell's eight Scottish Premiership outings at Fir Park this season thus far, including each of their last four contests in front of their own fans.

What's more, Both Teams to Score backers would have pocketed profit from three of Hibs' last five away matches, a sample that includes road games at Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers.

Given that neither defence is reliable and each side is capable in attack, backing each team to oblige at Fir Park on Sunday holds appeal at 10/11 (Bet 365).

One of the few shining lights for Hibernian in recent weeks has been Kevin Nisbet, who has hit the ground running since his return to the Starting XI.

The Hibees hitman has registered two goals and an assist in his first four matches since coming back from injury, so he looks worthy of some interest to strike on Sunday at 5/2 (PaddyPower).
