AC Milan travel to Monza for a Serie A fixture on Sunday as they look to maintain their recent good form. The Rossoneri have also never lost in this fixture and should have the upper hand over an out of sorts Monza once again.
Monza have had their good moments this season as they sit just outside the top half of the standings. They are well clear of the relegation zone and their task for the rest of the campaign will be to push for a place in the top 10.
However, the problem for Monza is that they appear to have lost their way in recent weeks having picked up just one win from their last five matches. They have failed to score in three of the last four fixtures in that run and were held to a 0-0 draw by Verona last time out in Serie A.
Things have also been difficult at home for Monza, who have picked up just two wins from their last eight Serie A fixtures at U-Power Stadium. However, Raffaele Palladino’s men are unbeaten in their last two home matches, earning a 1-0 victory over Sassuolo before the draw with Verona.
AC Milan travel to the U-Power Stadium in great form having lost just once in their last 13 matches across all competitions. While there is still some way to go before catching up with leaders Inter Milan, they have second placed Juventus within their sights with just one point separating both teams.
The Rossoneri have been particularly impressive in recent weeks, winning five of their last six matches across all competitions. They claimed a 1-0 victory over Napoli in their previous Serie A fixture before running out 3-0 winners over Rennes in the Europa League playoff first leg on Thursday.
AC Milan have also been solid on their travels lately and are unbeaten in four their last five away matches across all competitions. Stefano Pioli’s men have picked up four wins in that run, including a 3-2 victory at Frosinone in their previous fixture on the road.
How the bookies view it
AC Milan have been installed as overwhelming favourites among the bookies and are priced at 5/6 by Betfred to claim the win. Monza are considered outsiders with a home priced at 15/4 by bet365 while Unibet is offering odds of 14/5 for a draw.
Head to head
AC Milan have won all seven previous matches against Monza and picked up a 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in December.
Players to watch
Olivier Giroud is the leading scorer for AC Milan with 11 goals and will be the one to watch on Sunday. The French striker has also found the net in two of the last three Serie A away matches and is priced at 13/8 by Paddy Power to get on the score sheet.
With Monza struggling for goals lately, AC Milan will be targeting a shutout on Sunday. Matteo Gabbia has caught the eye in recent weeks and can lead the Rossoneri to a clean sheet at 6/4 with BoyleSports.
Anything else catch the eye?
AC Milan have won to nil in two of the last three matches against Monza and a repeat is priced at 11/5 with BetVictor. Given the one-sided results in the reverse fixture, a -1 handicap could also be considered at 23/10 with Paddy Power.
The Rossoneri scored in both halves in the last meeting with Monza and a similar pattern is priced at 15/8 with BoyleSports. They could also be backed to win both halves at 4/1 with 10bet.
