Manchester United vs Fulham

, KO: 16:30 , Old Trafford
Fulham

The FA Cup represents Manchester United's best chance of salvaging something from another desperately disappointing season but in-form Fulham will be a tough nut to crack in this fifth-round tie.

With the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea already eliminated, the holders stand a decent chance of reaching the showpiece if they can get past the Cottagers.

And there's still the prospect of a third successive all-Manchester final if United and City can both book their place in the quarter-finals this weekend.

Ruben Amorim's side will need to start playing much better to stand a chance, although the Red Devils at least showed plenty of character in midweek as they beat Ipswich 3-2  with 10 men, bringing up two bets for me.

Fulham's form has been much more impressive and they won 2-1 at Wolves on Tuesday, with Rodrigo Muniz's winner frustrating our man Gabriel after he'd tipped a draw.

Marco Silva's men have won six of their last nine and will fancy their chances at Old Trafford as they bid to cap another excellent campaign with some silverware.

How the bookies view it: Home advantage key for United

This is a tricky one to call but BoyleSports make Man United 8/11 favourites to go through with home advantage and 5/4 for a win in 90 minutes.

Fulham look decent value at evens to knock the Red Devils out while backing them to finish the job in normal time pays 17/10. The draw at 90 minutes pays 23/10.

Recent head to head: Red Devils on a roll

This is the third meeting of these sides in the current campaign and Manchester United have won the last two by 1-0 scorelines. The Red Devils have bossed this fixture of late, winning six of the last seven meetings.

Players to watch: Bruno packs a punch

I flagged up Alejandro Garnacho as United's man to watch against Ipswich but he stormed off in the huff after being sacrificed following Patrick Dorgu's red card.

So I'm switching to skipper Bruno Fernandes for this one as he often steps up in the big games. The midfielder is 5/2 at BoyleSports for anytime scorer.

Alex Iwobi has been a huge threat for Fulham all season and looks worth a punt at 6/4 with Bet365 to either score or assist in this cup tie.

Probable line-ups

Manchester United still have a few players out, with Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Toby Collyer set to be sidelined again. Dorgu misses out through suspension after his weekend red card.

Silva rested some big hitters with the likes of Iwobi, Antonee Robinson, Calvin Bassey and Raul Jimenez on the bench at Molinuex in midweek. They should all return to the starting line-up but Harry Wilson, Kenny Tete and Reiss Nelson miss out while Emile Smith Rowe is a doubt.

Manchester United: Onana, Maguire, Yoro, De Ligt, Casemiro, Ugarte, Mazraoui, Dalot, Fernandes, Zirkzee, Hojlund.

Fulham: Leno, Castagne, Bassey, Andersen, Robinson, Lukic, Pereira, Iwobi, Berge, Traore, Jimenez.

Anything else catch the eye?

There's not much between these sides so it should be a keenly contested cup tie. The half-time draw looks good at 11/10 with BoyleSports after coming up in both meetings earlier this season.

Only one card was flashed when United won 1-0 at Craven Cottage a few weeks ago but I've a feeling this one will be a bit more spicy. Over 42.5 booking points looks good at evens with Betfred while Fulham enforcer Sander Berge is 14/5 at BoyleSports to go into the book.

The corner count hit 15 on Fulham's last visit to Old Trafford so that's another market worth looking at. Over 10.5 corners pays a decent 7/5 with BoyleSports while over 4.5 first-half flag kicks is priced at 20/23.
