Mainz are set to take on Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday, 14 December with the visitors looking to extend their lead at the top of the league table.
Bayern are currently six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and are in a good position to reclaim their title after Bayer Leverkusen's stunning triumph last season.
Mainz are going along nicely at the minute and find themselves in midtable. They will be hoping for a push for Europe in the new year and a win against Bayern Munich could be the springboard for exactly that.
How the bookies view it: Bayern Munich are odds-on favourites
Bayern Munich are the odds-on favourites to win on Saturday afternoon which isn't a huge shock when you consider their record in the league this season. BoyleSports have priced a Bayern Munich win at 4/9 while a win for Mainz has been priced at 9/2. The draw, which would be a great result for the hosts, has been priced at 10/3.
Recent head-to-head: Advantage Bayern Munich
If Mainz are looking for any encouragement ahead of Saturday, then they should avoid looking at their recent record against Bayern Munich as it doesn't make for good reading. Bayern Munich have won five of the last six matches between the two clubs including a 4-0 win earlier this season in the German Cup.
Players to watch: Musiala the magic man
Although Harry Kane is grabbing all the headlines for his goal record this season for Bayern Munich, Jamal Musiala is considered by many as Bayern Munich's most important player.
With Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry both fading forces and Michael Olise still adapting to life in Munich, Musiala is their one truly world-class player in any of the positions behind Kane at the top of the pitch.
The 21-year-old playmaker has been particularly brilliant in recent weeks, scoring four goals and providing one assist in his last four appearances for the club. Everything that Kompany's side does well in the final third typically goes through him and that will be the case once again on Saturday afternoon.
If Mainz are to get anything from the game then they will need goalkeeper, Zentner, to get last week's nightmare out of his head. The 30-year-old conceded four goals from five shots on targets against Wolfsburg in a seven-goal thriller.
Predicted line-ups
Mainz will be without their two long-term absentees on Saturday with Danny da Costa and Gabriel Vidovic both scheduled to return in the new year. Bayern Munich have some big players missing out with Harry Kane still struggling with a hamstring problem and Joao Palhinha out until 2025.
Mainz: Zentner – Kohr, Bell, Leitsch – Caci, Amiri, Sano, Mwene, Nebel, Lee, Burkardt
Bayern Munich: Peretz – Laimer, Upamecano, Kim, Guerreiro – Pavlovic, Kimmich – Olise, Musiala, Sane – Muller
Anything else catch the eye?
Bayern Munich don't seem to be struggling for goals despite Kane's absence which bodes well for Kompany's men ahead of Saturday. They have scored nine goals in their last two fixtures and are priced at 13/10 with BoyleSports to score over 2.5 goals on Saturday.
