LUTON TOWN have been great entertainment in their battle for survival in this year's Premier League after their surprise promotion last year.
But they appear to have ran out of steam at the wrong time and they desperately need the win on Friday night against in-form and safe Everton.
With three games left and two from three down between Luton, a rejuvenated Burnley and a Nottingham Forest side who ran Manchester City close at the weekend, things do look bleak for the Hatters.
And the Bedfordshire club are on an awful run – just one league win since the end of January, six points out of a possible 42 and three defeats in a row. Dress it up any way you want, it's a hellish situation and the odds are stacked against them staying up.
However, manager Rob Jones has stated he is convinced they can do it and their three remaining games are against Everton, West Ham and Fulham so no big guns to play at least.
But Everton are on a super run which has seen them win four games out of five, three victories in a row and not concede in three too.
Most sweetest of all was a long-awaited win against Liverpool at Goodison Park in the derby to all but ensure safety and more or less fatally wound their rival's title hopes.
How the bookies view it
Everton are favourites here at a best-priced 6/4 with Coral.
Luton Town can be backed at 37/20 with UniBet and the draw is 13/5 with William Hill.
Recent head to heads
The teams have met twice this season – both at Goodison Park and both times Luton won the match 2-1 in the league and FA Cup.
Everton's last visit to Kenilworth Road was in a League Cup tie 17 years ago and they haven't played a league game there since 1991.
Players to watch
Carlton Morris has had a respectable season for Luton and bagged his tenth goal of the season across all competitions in their weekend defeat at Wolves. He is 17/10 with UniBet.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed Everton's weekend win with illness but should be back for the trip to Luton. After failing to score from October to April, he has now scored three goals in his last four games and is on form. He is 15/8 to score anytime with bet365.
Anything else catch the eye?
Everton are safe and have nothing to play for and Luton are fighting for their lives and both sides may have to make do with a stalemate here.
Luton will fight of course, but they appear to have forgotten how to defend and give away some awful goals at this level. They've gone 15 games in all competitions without keeping a clean sheet and were taken apart by Brentford 5-1 in their last home game.
However, although Everton have won three in a row, they were all at home and they were trounced 6-0 on their last away game at Chelsea. A draw could be the call.
There are usually goals at both ends where Luton are concerned and they have to go for it here. Back both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 10/11 with Ladbrokes.
