LIVERPOOL will be looking to continue their mini-revival when they lock horns with Leicester City in the Premier League at Anfield on Friday night.
The Reds entered the World Cup break on a high note, having put both Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton to the sword at the start of November, moving into the top-six in the process.
Jurgen Klopp's side then hit the ground running as the top-flight season resumed over the festive period by claiming a comfortable 3-1 victory away at Aston Villa.
Now all focus will turn to their Friday night fixture with Leicester, where another victory would put them hot on the heels of fourth-placed Tottenham.
As for Leicester, they were showing signs of life ahead of the Premier League pause after banking maximum points from away matches at both Everton and West Ham.
However, Brendan Rodgers' side were dealt a reality check on Boxing Day as they were blown away 3-0 by Newcastle, in a game that brought up one of my King Power picks.
Outright Betting
Liverpool are red-hot 3/10 (Bet 365) favourites to record what would be a fourth Premier League win in succession.
Leicester have failed to topple Liverpool at Anfield in each of their last 12 visits and the bookmakers' odds suggest that trend will continue, with the Foxes an unfancied 17/2 (Bet 365) while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 9/2 (Bet 365).
Betting Angles
Liverpool are far too skinny to side with at the above-mentioned odds but can boost those odds up to a backable 4/5 (UniBet) by siding with the hosts to overcome a -1.5 start on the Asian Handicap.
This selection would deliver a full pay-out if Liverpool win by a two-goal margin or greater and that holds plenty of appeal given the Reds recent resurgence.
As already alluded to, Jurgen Klopp's side have been on an upward curve of late, having covered this handicap against both Southampton and Aston Villa either side of the season halting, and I suspect the they can follow suit here against a similar standard of opposition
What's more, the Merseysiders have made the net bulge at least twice in each of their last three Premier League outings, and they also struck twice away at Man City in the EFL cup midweek, so they could smell blood when faced with Brendan Rodgers' backline.
Despite growing positivity from a defensive point of view at the King Power going into the World Cup break, shipping three first-half goals at home to Newcastle last time out shows that the Foxes' rearguard remains vulnerable, and that doesn't augur well ahead of a trip to Anfield.
It's also worth noting that Leicester have already leaked four goals at Arsenal, five at Brighton and six at Spurs this term – all of whom overcame a 1-5 handicap – so backing fast-improving Liverpool to follow suit on Friday night holds appeal at 4/5 (UniBet).
Given Leicester's aforementioned defensive deficiencies, I’ll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and back Mohamed Salah to get in on the act here at even-money (10Bet).
The Liverpool talisman has rediscovered his scoring touch in recent times, having chipped with four goals across his last four Premier League appearances, not to mention he is also on penalties which is always an added incentive when delving into this market.
