LIVERPOOL will be looking to land their first Premier League victory of the season when they come up against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Monday night.
The Reds were far from their best as they kicked off the new top-flight campaign with an action-packed 2-2 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend.
After dropping points in their season opener, Liverpool have drifted out to general 7/2 shots in the Premier League outright betting.
Jurgen Klopp admitted his sides' performance in West London fell below the standards expected so he will demand an immediate response from his side when Crystal Palace pay them a visit on a Monday night.
Many people were surprised with how well Palace performed under Patrick Viera last season, after the Frenchman led his side to a 12th-placed finish, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
The Eagles were beaten 2-0 at home to Arsenal in their opening Premier League clash last weekend and things could get worse before they get better given that the fixture list does not look to have been particularly kind to Palace at first glance.
Outright Betting
Liverpool, who boasted the best home record in the Premier League last season, head into this clash as short-priced 1/5 (Bet 365) favourites.
Crystal Palace have fallen to defeat in each of their last 10 league meetings with Liverpool and the bookies' odds suggest that trend will continue, with the visitors massive outsiders at 16/1 (Betfred) while the draw is also considered unlikely at 6/1 (Betfred) with the same firm.
Betting Angles
There is little value in siding with Liverpool at the aforementioned odds, so I'll head to the Bet Builder market to get a bigger price by combining Liverpool to win, under five match goals and over four Liverpool corners at 4/5 (Bet 365).
As already alluded to, Liverpool made their Anfield base a fortress last season as they won 15 of their 19 Premier League games, drawing the other four, meaning they were the only top-flight team to avoid defeat on home turf last term.
While the Reds are capable of blowing teams away, it's worth pointing out that a lofty 24 of Liverpool's 28 victories last season featured fewer than five match goals.
As for Crystal Palace, they have proven to be a tough nut to crack under Patrick Viera, losing just 12 of their 38 Premier League games last term, with 10 of those losses going under the 4.5 goal barrier.
I'm therefore happy to merge a Liverpool win and under five match goals on Monday night, but to squeeze a bit more juice out of the price, I'll also go with over four Liverpool corners.
Jurgen Klopp's high-octane hosts were averaging 7.42 corners per-game in the Premier League last season, a tally that increased to 7.89 when operating at their Merseyside headquarters.
I'll also have a nibble on the 11/8 (PaddyPower) for Liverpool to win, Liverpool to take the most corners and Crystal Palace to receive the most cards.
Liverpool tend to dominate possession for long stages at Anfield, so the above-mentioned same game multiple looks like a nice way of trying to squeeze some value out of what should be a maiden Reds league win of the season.
