Liverpool vs Arsenal

, KO: 20:00 Sep 28, 2020, Anfield
Arsenal

LIVERPOOL and Arsenal have taken maximum points from their opening two Premier League fixtures but something has to give when both sides meet at Anfield on Monday night.

Jurgen Klopp's champs edged a chaotic 4-3 curtain-raiser at home to Leeds before laying down a marker in the title race with a comfortable 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.

Remaining on their perch will not be easy but the Reds will be difficult to reel in as they bid to successfully defend their crown.

Standing in the Merseysiders' way at Anfield on Monday night is an Arsenal outfit who have made notable progress under the stewardship of Mikel Arteta.

Arteta

The Spaniard tactically outwitted mentor Pep Guardiola in last season's FA Cup semi-final and the Gunners subsequently went on to lift the trophy for a record-breaking 14th time.

The capital club also claimed the Community Shield by overcoming Liverpool and that success coupled with two wins from two in the Premier League has generated a real sense of optimism at the Emirates

Outright Betting

Liverpool have won 26 of their last 27 Premier League matches at Anfield and home win on Monday night is at a best 19/40 with Betway.

Arsenal have failed to win at this venue since 2012 and that is reflected in the 6/1 (UniBet) on offer for an away success, while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 19/5 with the same bookmaker.

Betting Angles

Goals tend to flow in this fixture with 14 of the last 16 tussles seeing both teams oblige but a repeat on Monday night looks slightly short at 4/6 with Bet 365,

However, we can nudge the price up to a much-more enticing price of 10/11 via the Bet 365 Bet Builder feature by combining both teams to score alongside at least one Arsenal card.

The above-mentioned combination clicked in both meetings last season and I'm happy to side with a repeat during this Anfield showdown given the array of star-power that will be on show.

What's more, Liverpool have notched up at least two goals across 25 of their last 27 top-flight outings on home turf, while the Gunners have got on the scoresheet in 15 of their last 16 matches across all competitions.

When digging slightly deeper it can be seen that Liverpool have racked up three or more strikes across their last five Premier League games when playing host to Arsenal.

That line of thought has me attracted to the 9/5 on offer with Betway for Liverpool to win and both teams to score, however, rather than hanging my hat on both teams to score, I'm going to opt for another Bet Builder with the view to getting Liverpool onside.

The alternative angle that I like the look of is Liverpool to win and Arsenal to collect over one card which will give us an odds-against shot at 23/20 with Bet 365.

Liverpool have been well-nigh flawless at fortress Anfield for three years and that coupled with the fact that Arsenal were the joint-first ill-disciplined side in the division last term has me attracted to the above-mentioned Bet Builder.
