Leicester City vs Blackburn Rovers

, KO: 19:30 Feb 28, 2023, King Power Stadium
Blackburn Rovers

LEICESTER CITY will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Blackburn Rovers to the King Power Stadium in the FA Cup on Tuesday night.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have blown hot and cold so far this term and as result they are far from out of the Premier League relegation picture.

Last time out, the Foxes fell to a 1-0 defeat when hosting league leaders Arsenal, a setback that means they remain in 14th place, just three points above the drop zone.

The FA Cup can often be a welcome distraction from a league campaign which is perhaps not going to plan, so Rodgers and Co will be keen to restore some confidence when Blackburn come calling.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team will come into this cup tie in good spirits, having won their last three Championship matches, the most recent of which was a 3-1 success at QPR.

In doing so, Rovers have tightened their grip on a playoff place and they will now turn their attention to claiming the scalp of top-flight opposition.

Outright Betting

Leicester City, who lifted the FA Cup in 2021, head into this fifth round tie as odds-on 4/9 favourites with William Hill.

Despite avoiding defeat in each of their last nine matches across all competitions, Blackburn arrive at the King Power as 7/1 (Bet 365) outsiders while the 90 minute draw can be backed at 7/2 (Bet 365).

Betting Angles

Leicester are too short to side with at the aforementioned price here but backing both teams to score looks like a nice alternative at 19/20 (Bet 365).

While there have been signs of life from the Foxes recently, they continue to look very suspect at the back, and that is evidenced by the fact that their only clean sheets since the World Cup have come against lowly Gillinham and Walsall in this competition.

What’s more, Brendan Rodgers is certain to shuffle his pack for Tuesday’s cup tussle with an eye on Satruday’s relegation six pointer showdown at Southampton

Blackburn Rovers, meanwhile, have already shown they have the tools to unlock top-flight defences this season after striking twice at West Ham in the League Cup, not to mention they have netted at least once in 14 of their last 17 outings.

That being said, the Ewood Park outfit have earned just seven clean sheets during the above-mentioned sample, which doesn’t bode well for their chances of keeping higher-tier opponents at bay.

With that in mind, coupled with the fact that BTTS has banked in each of Rovers’ last three road trips, siding with the selection on Tuesday night looks worthy of interest at 19/20 (Bet 365).

Elsewhere, I’ll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and have a speculative punt on Sam Gallagher to grab a goal here at 5/1 (Bet 365).

The big Blackburn striker will be brimming with confidence after bagging a brace in his last outing and he looks overpriced to land a blow here against a Leicester side that are not exactly renowned for being watertight.
