LEEDS will be eager to put their first three points of the season on the board when they entertain Everton at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Marcelo Bielsa's men were ruthlessly cut apart by old foes Manchester United during a 5-1 trouncing at Old Trafford last Saturday, on an afternoon where my BTTS bet banked.
The Whites will be desperate to bounce back from that bruising setback this weekend as they gear up to play their first Premier League home match in front of a full house since 2004.
As such, this is set to be a momentous occasion for Leeds fans but the traveling Toffees will be more than happy to play the role of party-poopers in front of a raucous Elland Road crowd.
Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez marked the start of his Everton reign with a 3-1 victory over Southampton at Goodison Park.
The appointment of Benitez was met with backlash by some sections of the Blues fanbase but last week's win was an important first step in a bid to win over sceptical supporters.
Outright Betting
Leeds avoided defeat in each of their final six Premier League home fixtures last season and the hosts head into this clash as slight 7/5 (Betfair) favourites.
Everton emerged victorious from this venue last term and another Toffees triumph is trading at 2/1 with Bet 365 while the draw is chalked up at 13/5 with the same firm.
Betting Angles
This looks like a tricky fixture to tackle from a betting perspective so I'm going to swerve the match result market and instead head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder.
If we combine over one match goal, over six match corners and each team to receive over zero cards we will be presented with a backable 4/5 (Bet 365) shot.
Nine of Leeds' last 10 Premier league fixtures have produced two or more strikes, not to mention a lofty 58% of the Whites 38 top-flight tussles last term featured over 2.5 match goals.
Everton, on the other hand, produced the majority of their best work away from Goodison Park last season, avoiding defeat in 15/19 road trips and notching in 14 of those assignments.
With all that in mind, I'm happy to add over one match goal to the above-mentioned combination but in order to nudge up the price, I'll throw over six match corners into the equation.
Last season, Leeds' matches were averaging a league-high 11.58 match corners per-game, while Everton weren't too far behind with their 10.94 flag kicks per-90 minute tally.
In fact, the Yorkshire hosts averaged 6.03 team corners per-game last term so six or more corners collectively doesn't look like too much to ask for in what should be an open and entertaining early-season encounter.
I'll complete the Bet Builder by backing each team to at least one card in what should also be a closely-fought and competitive contest – Leeds were averaging 1.55 yellows cards per-game last season while the Toffees had at least one name taken in 16/19 matches on their travels last term.
I'll also dip into the goalscorer market where Everton forward Richarlison looks overpriced to get on the scoresheet at enhanced odds of 3/1 with William Hill.
The bustling Brazilian bagged a goal and an assist in last week's win over Southampton and the 3/1 (William Hill) quote on him breaching a leaky Leeds backline looks too big to me.
