LEEDS UNITED are staring down the barrel of the relegation shotgun going into their final Premier League fixture of the season at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Leeds hierarchy decided to roll the dice with four games remaining by appointing Sam Allardyce but pulling of this particular rescue mission is looking like too big an ask for the renowned survival specialist.
Last time out, Allardyce's charges crashed to a damaging 3-1 defeat at West Ham, which means they will be relying on others on the final day of the season
In fact, the Whites require a minor miracle if they want to avoid relegation, as they will have to see off Spurs and hope that both Bournemouth and West Ham do them a favour in their respective fixtures with fellow basement battlers Everton and Leicester.
As for opposing outfit Tottenham Hotspur, they will be desperate for the season to end after enduring a dismal second-half to the campaign which has resulted in them falling out of top-four contention.
After slumping to a limp 3-1 defeat when hosting Brentford last weekend, eighth-placed Spurs go into their final league game of the season knowing that they can now only qualify for the Europa Conference League.
Outright Betting
Leeds United have drawn their last two home games and the same outcome here can be backed at 3/1 (UniBet) while a Whites win is trading at 29/20 (Bet 365).
Tottenham Hotspur, who have triumphed in just two of their last 11 top-flight road trips, enter Elland Road as 7/5 (UniBet) favourites.
Betting Angles
I successfully backed Harry Kane to score against Brentford last Saturday and I'm more than happy to side with the same selection here at 11/10 (PaddyPower).
While Tottenham may have underwhelmed this term, the same can't be said for their talisman who has been terrorising top-fight defences all season.
Kane's aforementioned strike against the Bees means that he has racked up 28 strikes in the Premier League this season, not to mention he is now the first player to score in 25 different games across a 38-game top-flight season.
Admittedly, the hosts are undoubtedly in greater need of the points here, but that should open up numerous opportunities and spaces for Kane and Co to exploit.
What's more, Leeds have earned the unenviable tag as the leakiest defence in division, shipping 74 goals across their 37 outings, and it's also worth noting that that they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 assignments.
With all that in mind, backing free-scoring Kane to sign off for the season with another goal holds plenty of appeal at 11/10 with PaddyPower.
On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I'll also have a speculative punt on the Kane to score a header at 17/2 (Bet 365).
A sizeable 11 of Kane's 28 league goals this season have been scored with his head so the England skipper looks worthy of some loose change to add to that tally here when faced with a Leeds side that have long been aerially vulnerable.
