ARSENAL will be aiming to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table when they take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.
Having won eight of their opening nine league games of the season, the Gunners are daring to dream of clinching a first top-flight title since the days of the 2003-04 ‘Invincibles’.
Mikel Arteta's men solidified their title credentials with a thrilling 3-2 win over Liverpool last Sunday, on an afternoon where our man Mark delivered a clean sweep of winners in the capital.
Following a 1-0 win at Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday evening, Arsenal will now switch their focus back to domestic matters this weekend with a trip to West Yorkshire to face Leeds United.
After dramatically avoiding the drop last season, the Whites started the current campaign in promising fashion by pocketing seven points from the first nine on offer.
However, Jesse Marsch's side have since failed to win any of their subsequent five league fixtures, the most recent of which was a 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace, in a game which brought up both of my bets.
Outright Betting
Leeds have avoided defeat in each of their last five Premier League home games but the bookies' odds suggest that sequence will be snapped on Sunday, with a Whites win as big as 5/1 (Bet 365) while an all square affair pays 17/5 (UniBet).
Arsenal, who have triumphed in nine of their last 10 top-flight fixtures, enter Elland Road as short-priced 11/20 favourites with Bet 365.
Betting Angles
Arsenal are too short to side with at the aforementioned odds but combining an away win and over one match goal will bring about a backable 4/5 (Bet 365) shot.
As already alluded to, Arsenal have been mightily impressive in the opening exchanges of the campaign, with a 3-1 loss at the hands of Manchester United the only blot on the Gunners' copybook.
That solitary setback aside, Mikel Arteta's table-toppers have claimed top honours in each of their eight top-flight assignments to date, scoring multiple goals in the process.
Those stats don't augur well for a Leeds side that continue to struggle when it comes to keeping the back door shut, with the Whites backline registering just two clean sheets across their last 13 attempts.
It's also worth pointing out six of Leeds' eight Premier League losses under Jesse Marsch's watch have featured a minimum of two match goals.
With all this in mind, coupled with the fact that the same selection would have paid out in all eight of Arsenal's top-flight triumphs this term so far, siding with the same wager in West Yorkshire on Sunday stands out at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Given that Leeds are prone to leaking goals, I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and back Gabriel Jesus to grab a goal 5/4 with BetVictor.
The Brazilian forward has already scored five goals and provided four assists in nine Premier League appearances this term and he looks like a prime candidate to get in on the act at Elland Road.
