Juventus hold a decent lead as they travel to Lazio for their Coppa Italia semi-final second leg. Lazio have done well enough at home lately but the Turin Club have been the draw experts in recent times and can hold out for a stalemate on Tuesday.
Lazio are attempting to claw back a deficit after suffering a 2-0 defeat in the first leg at the Allianz Stadium. They were far from their best in that fixture and failed to muster a single attempt on target throughout the encounter.
The good news for Lazio is that they have shown some resurgence since that defeat and have won their last two matches. First they ran out 4-1 winners over Salernitana before edging out Genoa 1-0 in a Serie A fixture last Saturday.
The win over Salernitana was the second straight home win for Lazio, who also edged out Juventus 1-0 in their previous fixture. However, prior to those two results, Igor Tudor’s men had suffered three straight defeats at the Stadio Olimpico.
Juventus were full value for their win in the first leg as they now hold a two-goal lead heading into Tuesday’s clash. Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic got the goals but it was the defence that stood out, ensuring Lazio had no attempts on target.
Manager Massimiliano Allegri can be pleased with his side’s form heading into Tuesday’s clash as Juventus are unbeaten in the last four matches. However, the Turin club have drawn the last two fixtures, including a 2-2 scoreline at Cagliari last weekend.
The result at Cagliari is the latest in a string of away draws for Juventus, who have been held three times in their last five matches on their travels. They have also kept just one clean sheet in their last six matches on the road.
How the bookies view it
Juventus have the slight edge among the bookies and are priced at 8/5 by Unibet to claim the win. A victory for Lazio is valued at 2/1 by bet365 while Paddy Power is offering odds of 12/5 for a draw.
Recent head to head
Juventus have beaten Lazio twice this season, claiming a 3-1 victory in a Serie A fixture back in September before the 2-0 triumph in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg. However, Lazio picked up a 1-0 win when both teams met at the Stadio Olimpico in March.
Players to watch
Lazio have spread their goals across the team this season but Valentin Castellanos has been the man leading the line in recent weeks. The striker could be worth keeping an eye on to score anytime at 13/5 with bet365.
Dusan Vlahovic has impressed for Juventus in recent weeks with five goals in his last eight matches. The Serbian striker has also found the net three times against Lazio this season and is priced at 2/1 by bet365 to maintain his scoring run.
Anything else catch the eye?
Lazio and Juventus have not been particularly convincing at the back lately and both teams could be backed to score at 19/20 by Coral. The Turin club saw over 3.5 goals in their previous fixture and a repeat is priced at 3/1 with William Hill while over 2.5 goals is priced at 5/4 by BetVictor.
There have been more goals after the break in the last two meetings and Tuesday’s clash could be set to follow a similar pattern at 5/4 with Paddy Power.
