KILMARNOCK and Raith Rovers have both got off to decent starts in their Viaplay Cup groups and face each other at Rugby Park on Wednesday night.
Killie eased past Annan Athletic in a 3-0 romp on their opening game of the campaign and came through a potential banana skin in Fife when they won 2-0 at East End Park when they met Championship new boys Dunfermline.
It's been an encouraging start for Derek McInnes' side who escaped relegation last season in their first campaign back in the top flight.
This summer, McInnes has gone for the tried and trusted by bringing in his former players Matty Kennedy and Marley Watkins from Aberdeen and all the players he has brought in have been from British clubs.
Raith Rovers are under new ownership and are many pundits' idea of dark horses in the Championship this season. They drew at rivals Dunfermline and eased past Annan Athletic in the Cup.
Manager Ian Murray has brought in Dylan Corr, Kevin Dabrowski, Jack Hamilton, Scott McGill, Josh Mullin, Euan Murray, Callum Smith and Keith Watson.
They have got their act together off the pitch and have shown plenty of ambition to mount a promotion charge.
How the bookies view it
Kilmarnock are solid good things here across the board and you can get 6/10 with William Hill on a home win. The Kirkcaldy outfit can be backed at 11/2 with Coral and the draw is 3/1 with McBookie.com.
Recent head to heads
They were both in the Championship two years ago and Raith won two of the four league meetings and drew one too. One of those wins was at Rugby Park too.
Players to watch
Kyle Vassell has been tipped for big things at Killie after impressing last season when he scored seven goals since the turn of the year for the Ayrshire side. He's already netted this season by scoring against Dunfermline.
Rovers' goalscoring hopes have been pinned on former Hibs striker Jamie Gullan, who will want to get off the mark for the season. He finally joined permanently after three previous loan spells at the club.
Anything else catch the eye?
Kilmarnock have made a solid start to this season and they should have enough to ease past Rovers, but only by a narrow margin.
Raith are well organised defensively and Killie can edge this by one goal at 11/4 with bet365.
Three of the four games both sides have played in this competition has seen them win to nil, with Killie yet to concede a goal yet this season.
It points to a low-scoring affair and McBookie.com 6/5 on under 2.5 goals could be the way to go here too.
