Kilmarnock vs Dundee

, KO: 15:00 , Rugby Park
Dundee

Ninth hosts 10th in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon, as Kilmarnock and Dundee meet at Rugby Park with both hoping to take another step towards securing automatic safety.

Kilmarnock took another step in clinching their automatic survival last weekend, as they went to Perth and defeated basement boys St Johnstone 0-2.

Whilst that was a rare away success for Derek McInnes’s side, they have been far more consistent on their plastic pitch, with Killie losing just three of their last 16 Premiership matches in front of their supporters, winning seven of their past 11 (W7-D2-L2).

Tony Docherty was left an angry figure last weekend with both the officials and his players, as his side conceded in stoppage time to lose 1-2 at home to Motherwell despite finishing the game with a man advantage.

That result still leaves them vulnerable, with The Dark Blues only two points clear of Ross County, who occupy the relegation playoff spot, but know a win here can move them just one point behind their hosts.

How the bookies view it: Killie favourites

Boylesports make Kilmarnock 8/11 favourites to make it four wins from their last five.

Dundee are 3/1 with the same firm to ease their relegation worries, with the draw at 13/5.

Head to head: Even between the pair this term

Both sides claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory at Dens earlier in the campaign, whilst their only meeting in Ayrshire finished in a 1-1 draw.

Players to watch: More goals for the Murray’s?

Simon Murray is the Dark Blues' top scorer in the Premiership this campaign, with the boyhood Dundee fan netting on 16 occasions, including in seven of his last nine matches.

Fraser Murray has scored four goals in his last 12 Premiership appearances for Kilmarnock, including in three of his last five at Rugby Park.

Predicted line-ups:

Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes will have to check on the availability of Kyle Magennis, Brad Lyons and Joe Wright after having just resumed training following injury.

Dundee appear to be mostly at full strength, but Tony Docherty may make some changes following his side's disappointing second half against Motherwell last weekend.

Kilmarnock: O’Hara, Mayo, Deas, Findlay, Ndaba, Armstrong, Donnelly, Watson, Murray, Anderson, Wales

Dundee: Carson, Astley, Shaughnessy, Robertson, Larkeche, Mulligan, Portales, Cameron, Tiffoney, Adewumi, Murray

Anything else catch the eye?

I successfully backed Kilmarnock to collect all three points in their last home match against Ross County, and I’m keen to get Derek McInnes’s hosts on side once again.

Not only have they won three of their last four matches, but Killie have also taken top honours in seven of their previous 11 Premiership contests on home soil, and they can edge out their inconsistent visitors.

Both Teams to Score has been a winning selection in all three meetings between the pair this season, and with Dundee involved, there’s always a chance we’ll see goals.
