Guinea vs Senegal
African Nations Cup, KO: 17:00 Jan 23, 2024, Stade Charles Konan Banny de YammousoukroSenegal will be looking to secure top spot as they battle Guinea in their final Group C fixture at the Africa Cup of Nations. Senegal have looked imperious so far and while the Guineans will attempt to make things difficult, the superior quality of the reigning champions should give them the upper hand.
Guinea head into Tuesday’s clash off the back of a 1-0 victory over Gambia in their previous Group C fixture. They were made to work hard by the Gambians with Aguibou Camara’s effort midway through the second half securing the win.
Having held Cameroon to a 1-1 draw in their opening fixture, Guinea are still unbeaten in the competition. A draw on Tuesday will see them finish second behind Senegal while they can leapfrog the reigning champions with a win.
While Guinea are yet to taste defeat in Cote D’Ivoire, they have not been particularly prolific in attack. Kaba Diawara’s men have only scored one goal in each of their matches so far and will need to be more clinical to upstage the rampant Senegalese team.
It has been a solid title defence for Senegal so far as they have won their opening two Group C matches. The Teranga Lions are two points clear at the top of the table and although a draw will see them lock up top spot, they will be keen to maintain their 100% record.
Senegal were in fine form last time out as they claimed a 3-1 victory over Cameroon. Ismaila Sarr opened the scoring early in the contest while second half efforts from Habibou Diallo and Sadio Mane sealed the win.
One interesting thing about this Senegal side is that they have looked more expressive in attack than during their title winning run two years ago. The 3-0 victory over Gambia in their opening fixture means Aliou Cisse’s men have now scored six goals in just two matches at the AFCON.

Head to head
Senegal have a 10-3 advantage with two draws from 15 previous matches against Guinea. Each team claimed a 1-0 victory in their two meetings during the African Nations Championship back in 2022.
Players to watch
Although Guinea have not been prolific, they will be keen to take advantage of Senegal’s expected changes and relaxed mood on Tuesday. Mohamed Bayo was on target in the fomenting fixture and is priced at 17/4 by Unibet to get on the score sheet.
Senegal are expected to make changes to the team with the likes of Nicolas Jackson in line to earn a start having come off the bench in the last two. The Chelsea forward is expected to lead the line and is priced at 3-1 by bet365 to find the net.
Anything else catch the eye?
With Senegal already qualified, they are likely to be relaxed on Tuesday, which means goals could be expected. There were over 3.5 goals in their previous fixture and a repeat is priced at 24/5 by Unibet, over 2.5 goals is valued at 17/10 by bet365 while William Hill is offering odds of 5/4 on both teams to score.
Senegal have opened the scoring in their twitches so far and could be backed to grab the first goal on Tuesday at 5/6 with Coral.
