Girona are set to take on Real Madrid in La Liga on Saturday, 7 December in a big match for both teams as the season begins to heat up.
Girona aren't performing as well as they did last season but are still in the hunt for the European places which is to their credit after losing some of their best players in the summer.
Real Madrid are currently four points behind Barcelona in the title race but with a game in hand, they aren't far from where they want to be at this stage.
How the bookies view it: Real Madrid are odds-on favourites
Real Madrid are the favourites to win this match but given they lost their most recent away league match, a bet on Girona wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Kwiff have priced a Real Madrid victory at 1.62 while a win for Girona has been priced at 3.90. The draw, which would be a good result for the hosts, has been priced at 3.40.
Recent head-to-head: Advantage Real Madrid
Real Madrid have a brilliant recent record against Girona which will fill their fans with confidence ahead of this one. Last season, they beat Girona by an aggregate score of 7-0 across the two league fixtures and have won six of the last nine encounters between the two sides. Girona's last win over Real Madrid came in April 2022 when they ran out as 4-2 victors.
Players to watch: Bellingham returning to form
Although there are still well-documented problems in the Real Madrid camp, mainly relating to the chemistry between Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe, one of their big names is beginning to show the form that made him a global superstar last season.
Jude Bellingham quickly became one of Real Madrid's most important players last season and after starting this campaign in poor form, he has recently started to become a big threat in the opposition box once again. The England midfielder has now scored four goals and provided five assists in his last seven appearances for club and country and should play a leading role again on Saturday night.
If Girona are to get anything from the game on Saturday, then they will need a big performance from goalkeeper, Paulo Gazzaniga. The former Spurs man was superb last season for Girona but has only kept two clean sheets in his last ten league appearances.
Predicted line-ups
Girona will be without the services of Viktor Tsygankov, Yaser Asprilla and Yangel Herrera for this one but Gabriel Misehouy should be okay to return. Real Madrid have a lengthy injury list with plenty of big names in the treatment room, including Vinicius Jr, Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba.
Girona: Gazzaniga – Martinez, Lopez, Krejci, Gutierrez – Romeu, Martin – Gil, Van de Beek, Danjuma – Miovski
Real Madrid: Courtois – Vazquez, Asencio, Rudiger, Mendy – Tchouameni, Valverde, Bellingham Rodrygo, Mbappe, Diaz
Anything else catch the eye?
Goals are usually the order of the day whenever these two teams meet on the football pitch with nine of the last ten meetings producing at least three goals. Over 2.5 goals to be scored on Saturday has been priced at 1.56 by Kwiff.
