Fulham vs Cambridge United

, KO: 19:45 , Craven Cottage
Cambridge United

Fulham have never graced an EFL Cup Final before but they will be hoping a win over Cambridge United will be another staging post on the road to Wembley.

Marco Silva came close to leading the Cottagers to the showpiece two seasons ago but they came up just short against Liverpool in the semi-finals.

Fulham have a squad capable of enjoying another good run in the competition and they eased past Championship opposition in the last round by beating Bristol City 2-0.

The draw has been kind to Silva's men by handing them another home tie against League Two Cambridge United.

Neil Harris' troops are the lowest-ranked team left in the tournament but have already upset the odds by knocking out EFL Championship outfit Chartlon.

Cambridge have also been in decent league form, with Saturday's 2-1 victory over Fleetwood leaving them on the fringes of the play-off places.

So they will head to Craven Cottage with a bit of belief as they bid to pull off a big shock by dumping Fulham out of the EFL Cup.

How the bookies view it: No shock value

Cambridge United have been written off for this one, with BoyleSports making them 14/1 outsiders for a win in 90 minutes. Fulham are just 1/4 in the same market and the draw pays 9/2.

Head to head: Long time no see

You have to go back to season 1996/97 for the last time these teams faced off and both were in the fourth tier at the time. Fulham won both games that term but Cambridge are on top in the overall head-to-head, winning 10 of the 19 meetings and losing just five.

Players to watch: Traore out to impress

Silva will probably use this cup tie to give some of his fringe players a run-out. Adam Traore's pace and power could make him too hot to handle for Cambridge and he's 9/4 at Bet365 for anytime scorer.

Millwall loanee Adam Mayor heads into this cup tie with his confidence up after scoring in his last two games for Cambridge United. The midfielder looks a bit overpriced at 14/1 for another goal.

Probable line-ups

Expect plenty of Fulham changes from the weekend, with the likes of Traore, Emile Smith Rowe and Tom Cairney looking for more game time.

Cambridge should be along similar lines to their win over Fleetwood as they seek another scalp. Striker Louis Appere looks set to miss out again.

Fulham: Lecomte, Cuenca, Castagne, Sessegnon, Diop, Reed, Cairney, Traore, Smith Rowe, Kevin, Jimenez.

Cambridge United: Eastwood, Purrington, Morrison, Watts, Gibbons, Ball, Broph, Kaikai, Mayor, Mpanzu, Kouassi.

Anything else catch the eye?

Cambridge have done well to get this far in the EFL Cup but Fulham should have too much quality for them.

Complacency is sometimes a problem in these kind of cup ties but Silva has plenty of players desperate to impress so I fancy a Fulham win with over 2.5 goals at 20/23 with BoyleSports.

The Cottagers have plenty of firepower so the 20/21 available at the same firm for Silva's side to score in both halves also looks decent value.
