EVERTON entertain Burnley on Saturday as the battle for survival hots up.
Both sides were in midweek action and they both managed to secure 1-1 draws which both of them could be reasonably satisfied with, given Everton took a point from St James' Park against Newcastle and Burnley held in-form Wolves to a draw at home.
But these are troubled times for Everton. In fact, it's actually pretty remarkable they are not in the relegation zone given they were docked six points and have won just one league game since the middle of December…and that was against Burnley.
Sean Dyche's side have now gone 13 league games without a win although they have drawn six of those. But this game really is a must-win for them.
However, it's the same for Vincent Kompany's side who have found found a tiny chink of light at the end of a long, dark tunnel after looking out of their depth for most of the season.
They are actually unbeaten in four games now – their best run of the season – although three of those have been draws. It looks like the penny has dropped for them, but they desperately need wins to offer up any hope of survival.
How the bookies view it
Everton are odds-on favourites here at 4/6 with Coral. Burnley are available at 17/4 with BetVictor. The draw is 16/5 with William Hill.
Recent head to heads
Everton eased to a 2-0 win at Turf Moor in December. And Everton also cruised to a 3-0 League Cup om Merseyside this season too.
Prior to that, Burnley won two of the last three meetings between the sides.
Players to watch
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had a season to forget, but at least he finally got back on the scoresheet with that late penalty at Newcastle. Incredibly, that was his first goal since October. He is 8/5 to score anytime with William Hill.
Jacob Bruun Larsen netted for Burnley in midweek and has now scored two goals in his last three games. The Danish on loan midfielder from Hoffenheim is 5/1 to net, also with William Hill.
Anything else catch the eye?
Everton will have targeted this game as the day their winless run ends, but this will be far from easy against an improved Burnley side battling for their lives and it would be a brave Toffees fan indeed who charges in on the odds-on price for them.
The call has to be a draw, which is what both sides have done a lot of recently including in midweek.
It's unlike. to be a goal fest with defeat for either side catastrophic. It could even be that one goal wins it, but go for under 2.5 goals here at 57/50 with UniBet.
