England and the Netherlands clash on Wednesday evening in Switzerland in what looks set to be a crucial clash in Group D of the UEFA Women's European Championships.
Indeed, should the Lionesses lose to the Dutch, then the holders will be knocked out of the competition at the group stage. Head coach Sarina Wiegman will be desperate for that not to happen against her fellow countrywomen.
England have dropped off a bit from their previous Euros triumph, losing four of their last 11 games in all competitions. This includes a 2-1 defeat to France in their opening group match, where the Lionesses were largely second-best.
However, the holders will take some encouragement from the fact that they have won three of the previous five H2Hs. The Netherlands have also only kept one clean sheet in their last nine matches in all competitions – in their 3-0 victory against Wales last time out.
Nonetheless, the Dutch should still pose a big threat, as they have only lost one of their last eight games in total in all competitions, and are unbeaten in the previous three. This could turn out to be a very entertaining affair.
How the bookies view it: England odds-on favourites
BoyleSports have England as 8/11 odds-on favourites to claim what would be a crucial three points. A draw is rated at 11/4 with the same bookmaker, with the Netherlands at 3/1 to win.
Recent head-to-head: England win five-goal thriller
These two teams last played in 2023, with England coming back from two goals down to win 3-2. Lineth Beerensteyn scored a brace for the Netherlands in the first half, before Georgia Stanway, Lauren Hemp and Ella Toone turned the game around for the Lionesses.
Players to watch: Can Hemp make an impact again?
Lauren Hemp has scored two goals and made a further two assists in the previous three H2Hs, and so loves playing against the Netherlands. The England winger is at a rather generous 11/4 odds with BoyleSports to score anytime.
Vivianne Miedema recently scored her 100th senior international goal against Wales. A lot of the Lionesses will know the Netherlands star well from her time in the Women's Super League (WSL).
Predicted lineups
Both teams have no fresh concerns in their respective squads heading into this clash. Wiegman could be tempted to make changes for England following their defeat to France last time out.
England Women: Hampton; Bronze, Williamson, Greenwood, Charles; Walsh, Stanway; James, Toone, Hemp, Russo.
Netherlands Women: Van Domselaar; Casparij, Jansen, Buurman, Brugts; Groenen, Kaptein; Pelova, Van de Donk, Roord, Miedema.
Anything else catch the eye?
The previous three H2Hs have seen both teams score, with two of those resulting in England wins. That combo can be backed by BoyleSports at 5/2 odds.
Those three meetings have also seen a total of 14 goals scored at an average of around 4.7 goals per game, so we should expect plenty of goalmouth action once again. Over 3.5 total goals can also be backed at 2/1 odds with the same bookmaker.
