Rangers will look to back up their Old Firm victory before the international break as they travel to Dens Park to take on 11th-placed Dundee in the Saturday evening kickoff slot live on Sky Sports.
Rangers were impressive in their Old Firm clash at Celtic Park just before the international break, particularly in the first half, as goals from Nicolas Raskin and Mohammed Diomande gave them a two-goal lead at the interval.
As expected, though, Celtic came fast out of the traps in the second half, and goals from Japanese pair Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate got The Hoops back on level terms – with the former’s goal helping land two of my three selections – but a Hamza Igamane rocket three minutes from time sealed The Teddy Bears first win at Celtic Park since October 2020.
That result was made even more impressive, given Rangers were involved in a gruelling 120 minutes just three days earlier, where Barry Ferguson’s side sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League after edging past Turkish giants Fenerbahce on penalties.
Dundee also comes into this fixture off the back of a derby win away from home, as they were deserving 2-4 winners down the road against Dundee United, sealing their first victory at Tannadice in 21 years.
That victory moved Tony Docherty’s men five points clear of bottom side St Johnstone, but they remain in the relegation playoff position, a point behind 10th-placed Kilmarnock.
How the bookies view it: Gers Favourites
BoyleSports makes Rangers 3/10 favourites to claim their fifth successive away win in all competitions.
The same firm has a home success at 6/1, whilst the draw is 4/1.
Head to head: Gers dominance against The Dark Blues
Rangers are unbeaten in each of their past 16 meetings with Dundee, winning 13 of them (W13-D3-L0), but did draw 1-1 at Dens in their last meeting at the turn of the year.
Dundee’s last success in this fixture came in a 2-1 victory at Dens Park in November 2017.
Players to watch: Cerny to cause more havoc?
Czechia winger Vaclav Cerny has scored 17 times in all competitions for Rangers this season, with the sharp-shooter netting in three of The Gers' last four away matches, as well as the equaliser in their previous trip to Dens.
Simon Murray is the Dark Blues top scorer in the Premiership this campaign, with the boyhood Dundee fan netting on 12 occasions, including in each of his last four matches.
Probable line-ups
Dundee once again will be without the likes of Scott Fraser, Antonio Portales and Billy Koumetio.
Despite quite a few international call-ups, Rangers appear to have come out of the international break unscathed, with only defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo missing.
Dundee: Carson, McGhee, Shaughnessy, Donnely, Larkeche, Mulligan, Sylla, Cameron, Tiffoney, Adewumi, Murray
Rangers: Butland, Sterling, Tavernier, Balogun, Souttar, Yilmaz, Raskin, Barron, Diomande, Cerny, Dessers
Anything else catch the eye?
Dundee’s opening 30 contests in the Scottish Premiership this season have averaged an eye-catching 3.60 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 22 (73%) of them, whilst 22 (73%) have also seen goals at both ends.
Those numbers rise even further when playing at home, with their 15 Premiership fixtures at Dens Park averaging a staggering 3.94 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 13 (87%) of them, with 13 (87%) also seeing both teams get on the scoresheet.
What's more, Rangers’ previous 10 matches away from home in all competitions have seen Both Teams to Score land – with nine (90%) also going Over 2.5 Goals – and I’m expecting the goals to flow at Dens on Saturday night.
