Dundee host Aberdeen in an intriguing game at Dens Park featuring two teams who were glad of the Scottish Cup break last week.
For the hosts, they suffered a nightmare spell where they became the first ever top flight club in Scotland to lost two games by 6-0 in a row.
Dundee are a very hard team to call. They were going along very nicely having put Dundee United out of the Scottish Cup and holding both Celtic and Rangers to draws at Dens Park – ndeed they were seconds away from beating the champions.
They then inexplicably crashed to a 6-0 home defeat to Hearts which absolutely no one saw coming. They followed that up by running into a Celtic side who were on top of their game and they were crushed at Parkhead too.
They stopped the rot last week with a comfortable win over Championship Airdrie just as Aberdeen did against Dunfermline in the Cup.
The Dons' last win in the Premiership was a 4-1 win against Dundee but that was at the start of November and since then they've embarked on a well-publicised horror run where they cannot buy a win in the league.
How the bookies view it: Too close to call
The layers make this a tight one with Boylesports making Dundee the narrowest of favourites at 7/5 compared with Aberdeen's 6/4. The draw is 23/10.
There are plenty of firm who have it the other way around and make Aberdeen favourites.
Recent head to heads: Dons on top
As stated, Aberdeen romped to a 4-1 win against Dundee at the start of November and they also edged a 2-1 win at Dens Park towards the start of the season too.
Before that, Dundee had won two of the last three meetings at Dens Park between the clubs.
Players to watch: Papa's the daddy
Lyall Cameron has announced he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers for next season, but it didn't seem to have much impact on the Scotland Under 21s midfielder last week as he bagged a double against Airdrie. He is 11/2 to score anytime with bet365.
Aberdeen's top scorer Papa Gueye looked back to his best last week against Dunfermline with a goal and a strong performance. He is 15/8 to score anytime with Betfred.
Predicted line-ups:
Dundee are likely to stick with keeper Jon McCracken after dropping Trevor Carson following his loss of 12 goals in two games.
Aberdeen are without Jamie McGrath and keeper Dimitar Mitov, but could hand a debut to new signing – Palestinian international Oday Dabbagh – after he received his work permit.
Dundee: McCracken, Robertson, Portales, Donnelly, McGhee, Tiffoney, Mulligan, Cameron, Larkeche, Murray, Adewumi.
Aberdeen: Doohan, Jensen, Tobers, Knoester, MacKenzie, Nilsen, Palaversa, Okkels, Keskinen, Nisbet, Gueye.
Anything else catch the eye?
There's a reason bookies have got different opinions here – it's a very hard game to call between two teams who had dreadful league form but both will have taken some confidence from last week's Scottish Cup ties – this could be a draw.
The Dons looked far more of an attacking threat last week as did Dundee, but both have been vulnerable at the back and this should have goals in it at both ends.
Go for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at evens with Boylesports.
