Dundee United vs Hibernian

, KO: 12:00 Apr 9, 2023, Tannadice
Hibernian

BOTH Dundee United and Hibernian will be desperate to return to winning ways when the pair lock horns in the Scottish Premiership at Tannadice on Sunday lunchtime.

Since replacing Lima Fox with Jim Goodwin last month, Dundee United have experienced little in the way of a new manager bounce under the former Aberdeen boss' tutorship.

The Terrors have taken just two points from a possible 12 since opting to make a managerial change, although they were always going to be up against the odds at Ibrox last weekend, and so it proved as they lost 2-0.

Nevertheless, United are in grave danger of slipping out of the Scottish Premiership again as they now find themselves six points from safety with just eight rounds of fixtures remaining.

As for Hibernian, their overall form has taken a nosedive of late after appearing to be on an upward curve throughout January and February.

Lee Johnson's side have lost each of their last three league games – the most recent of which was a 3-1 defeat at home to Motherwell – meaning that a place in the top-six is not yet secured.

Outright Betting

Dundee United have failed to win any of their last 11 league games and the bookmakers' fully expect that dismal run to continue, with a home win trading at 11/4 (UniBet).

The last meeting between the pair ended all square and the same outcome here can be backed at 12/5 with Bet 365 at while Hibernian are 23/20 (Bet 365) favourites with the same firm.

Betting Angles

It's difficult to have too much faith in either team here from a 1×2 perspective but backing Both Teams to Score looks like a tempting enough alternative at 17/20 (McBookie).

Whilst you wouldn't normally associate Dundee United with scoring goals, they are fast-approaching must-win territory in their fight for survival.

What's more, the Tangerines have scored in three of their four matches under Jim Goodwin's guidance and they should be capable of carving out opportunities against a Hibs side that have found clean sheets hard to come by this season.

The capital club have failed to shutout their opponents in 16 of their last 21 Scottish Premiership matches, not to mention their backline has been breached in 10 of their last 11 road matches.

It's also worth noting that both teams have scored in each of the Hibees' last four top-flight tussles, as well as four of their last five encounters away from their Easter Road base.

With that in mind, coupled with the fact that BTTS has banked in three of Dundee United's four games under Jim Goodwin's watch, backing each team to oblige at Tannadice looks worth taking on at 17/20 (McBookie).

On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I'm also going to have a small play in the Correct Score market with the 1-1 looking like a nice scoreline to cheer on at 6/1 (McBookie).

Two of the hosts' last three matches have ended one apiece and I suspect there could be scope for a repeat here in what should be a keenly-contested affair in front of the TV cameras.
