CHELSEA and Real Madrid reconvene for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
The 10-man Blues succumbed to a lacklustre 2-0 defeat in the Spanish capital last midweek as goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio put Los Blancos in pole position to seal their passage to the semi-final stage.
Things just go from bad to worse for the hosts and they've shown little sign of turning things around under club legend and caretaker boss Frank Lampard who lost for the third time in succession against Brighton on Saturday.
Chelsea now have a little bit of a mountain to climb heading into their return match with Real Madrid and have to attack from the off if they are to overturn a 2-0 deficit.
As for Carlo Ancelotti's side, they returned to winning ways in La Liga on Saturday night with a 2-0 win away at Cadiz.
With Real sitting 11 points behind fierce rivals Barcelona, a successful title defence looks increasingly unlikely, meaning all their eggs go into the Champions League basket as the bid to conquer the continent for a 15th time.
Outright Betting
Chelsea are unbeaten at home in this season's Champions League but they head into this second leg showdown as 9/5 (William Hill) outsiders while the draw is unfancied 12/5 (William Hill).
Real Madrid, who won 3-1 at this venue during last season's quarter stage en-route to lifting the trophy, return to west London as 6/4 (William Hill) favourites.
Betting Angles
Given the dynamics of this tie, I'm going to steer clear of the more traditional markets and instead combine Over Four Chelsea Corners and Each Team to Receive a Card at 17/20 (Bet 365).
As already mentioned, Frank Lampard's side have work to do and they will look to start on the front foot as they bid to get back into this tie.
While Chelsea have had something of a torrid time this term, they have been fairly reliable corner performers in the Premier League with an average of 5.71 per-game, a tally that increases to 6.25 when operating at their capital headquarters.
Despite the Blues shortcomings in the Bernabéu last midweek, they did manage to earn three corners so I don't think landing five flag kicks here is too much to ask on a night where the hosts will have to go for broke in front of their own supporters.
As such, I'm prepared to side with a minimum of five Chelsea corners, but to round off the Bet Builder, I'll also back each them team to pick up a booking.
Both sides received three cards apiece during the first leg and you have to imagine that Italian whistler Daniel Orsato will be kept busy here given what's at stake.
It's also noting that this Bet Builder would have paid in the previous round when Chelsea found themselves in a similar predicament when hosting Borussia Dortmund and that only adds to the appeal of siding with the same selection on Tuesday night at 17/20 (Bet 365).
