CELTIC will be looking to return to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership when they welcome St Mirren to Parkhead on Wednesday night.
Ange Postecoglou's side laboured to a 0-0 draw away to Hibernian on Sunday, a stalemate which brought an end to the Bhoys' eight-game winning streak in the Scottish top-flight.
However, the league leaders ended the day with their three-point lead still intact, as arch-rivals Rangers failed to capitalise against Motherwell, throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Ibrox.
That said, Postecoglou will demand a response from his players when they take to the field in front of their own supporters against St Mirren at Celtic Park this midweek.
The Saints are under new management but new boss Stephen Robinson's reign got off to a nightmare start as his side slumped to a 2-0 home defeat at home to Hearts on Saturday.
St Mirren will be looking to get their push for a top-six place back on track, but they will face a very difficult task when they come up against a wounded Celtic side on Wednesday night.
Outright Betting
Celtic, who have won each of their last nine domestic home matches, are unsurprisingly short-priced favourites at 3/19 (SBK).
St Mirren held Celtic to a 0-0 draw the last time these two sides crossed paths but the same outcome here is an unfancied 37/5 (SBK) while the Buddies are big outsiders to bank all three points at 19/1 (SBK).
Betting Angles
As already alluded to, Celtic are heavily fancied here but dipping into 888Sport's Match Combo's Market we can get some 10/11 when merging Celtic to take the most corners and St Mirren to receive the most bookings points, and that makes appeal.
Celtic have been flying the flag for corners-based backers all season, with the high-octane Hoops averaging a hefty 9.54 flag kicks per 90 in the Scottish Premiership this season so far.
It's also worth noting that Ange Postecoglou's attack-minded outfit have won the corner count in a whopping 26 of their 28 top-flight tussles this term, a sample that includes each of their previous two meetings with St Mirren.
With all this in mind, as well as the likelihood of Celtic dominating possession, I'm more than happy to back the hosts to hit the most corners, but to boost the odds, I'll also back the Buddies to bag the most booking points.
Whilst the Paisley guests are averaging just 1.70 cards per-game in the Scottish Premiership this season, they have picked up 20+ Booking Points in each of their last three league matches.
What's more, Celtic have drawn two or more cards from each of their last 12 opponents in the Scottish top-flight, so with all things considered, the aforementioned 10/11 (888Sport) Match Combo looks like a nice angle of attack at Parkhead on Wednesday night.
One player who could be worth considering for a caution is St Mirren's Alex Gogić who has been priced up at 13/5 (PaddyPower) to have his name taken.
The Cypriot midfielder is no stranger to the referees notebook having racked up eight cards for Hibs last season and it's also worth highlighting that the same bet is as short as 6/5 elsewhere.
