ARSENAL will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they make the short trip across the capital to face London neighbours Brentford on Sunday lunchtime.
The Gunners' five-match winning streak in the top-flight was snapped at Old Trafford earlier this month, as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against old foes Manchester United.
Despite that setback, Mikel Arteta's men remain top of the Premier League table, but they will be keen to bounce back at the first time of asking against Brentford.
While Arsenal have spent the last two weeks stewing domestically, they have since safely negotiated their way past FC Zurich in their opening Europa League assignment of the season.
Brentford, meanwhile, will be looking to consolidate their place amongst England's elite after earning an excellent 13th-placed finish during the 2021-22 campaign.
Thomas Frank's team have started this season in good fashion, tasting defeat just once in six outings to date, allaying any fears over the potential for a classic case of second season syndrome.
Outright Betting
Brentford famously beat Arsenal in last season's corresponding fixture but the same outcome on Sunday is as big as 16/5 (PaddyPower) while an all square affair can be backed at a best 14/5 (William Hill).
Arsenal, who have triumphed in six of their seven matches across all competitions this term, make the trip across the city as odds-on 4/5 (Bet 365) favourites.
Betting Angles
Arsenal are worthy favourites on Sunday but they are unlikely to have things all their own way, so I'll head to Bet Builder market and merge over zero Brentford goals and each team to receive a card at 4/5 (Bet 365).
As already alluded to, Brentford have made a strong start to the season and that can be attributed to the fact that they are the Premier League's joint second-highest scorers with 15 goals.
In fact, the Bees have made net bulge at least once in each of their six league games so far, not to mention they have netted in 19 of their 22 home games following their promotion to the top-flight.
While Arsenal are sitting proudly at the top of the Premier League table, they have failed to shut out their opponents in four of their last five league games.
As such, I'm going to back Brentford to grab at least one goal here, but to boost the price, I'll also go with each team to collect a card during this all-London affair.
Both sides have have received at least one booking in 11 of the pair's 12 collective top-flight outings this term and I fancy that trend to continue here given that referee David Coote was flashing almost five cards per-game last season.
One player who could be worth considering for a card is Brentford's Aaron Hickey who has been priced up at 11/4 (Bet 365) to have his name taken on Sunday afternoon.
The young Scottish right-back has been cautioned in each of Brentford's last three Premier League games and he should have his hands full here with Gabriel Martinelli, who is known for his pace and superb dribbling skills.
