Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund

, KO: 17:30 Mar 30, 2024, Allianz Arena
Borussia Dortmund

Bayern Munich continue their pursuit of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen as they travel to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Both teams have shown some good form lately but Bayern often come out on top in this fixture and should have the upper hand once again.

Bayern Munich are in the unfamiliar position of having to chase down the league leaders in the Bundesliga. It has not been a typically dominant campaign for the reigning champions as they sit 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen.

After a few stumbles in February, Bayern Munich appear to be finding their feet again having gone unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions. They have picked up four wins in that run, including a 5-2 victory at Darmstadt in their previous Bundesliga fixture.

Bayern Munich often do their best work at home and have won 10 of their last 11 Bundesliga matches at the Allianz Arena. However, Thomas Tuchel's men have failed to keep a clean sheet in the last three fixtures in that run, although their previous home fixture was an 8-1 victory over Mainz.

For the first time in a long time, Borussia Dortmund are not the main challengers to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Edin Terzic’s men have struggled to find the required level of consistency and are currently fourth on the table, 10 points behind the Bavarians.

Like their hosts, Borussia Dortmund have also shown some good form lately, winning their last four matches across all competitions. They picked up a 3-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt last time out in the Bundesliga with Karim Adeyemi, Mats Hummels and Emre Can getting the goals.

Although Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 away matches across all competitions, a closer look at the results shows some inconsistency. They have picked up just four wins in that run while the other five fixtures have ended in draws.

How the bookies view it

The bookies have installed Bayern Munich as overwhelming favourites with a home win priced at 4/9 with bet365. A victory for Borussia Dortmund is valued at 11/2 by Coral while a draw is set at odds of 4/1 by Paddy Power.

Recent head to head

Bayern Munich have dominated this fixture in recent times as they are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings. The Bavarians have claimed 10 wins in that run, including a 4-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in November with Harry Kane netting a hat-trick.

Players to watch

Harry Kane has recovered in time to feature for Bayern Munich on Saturday despite pulling out of international duty due to injury. The England striker is the Bundesliga top scorer with 31 goals and is priced at 4/7 by bet365 to score anytime.

Niclas Fullkrug is coming off a fine showing in the International break and will be keen to carry that form into the Bundesliga. The striker is the leading scorer for Borussia Dortmund with 11 goals and is priced at 13/5 by bet365 to get on the score sheet on Saturday.

Anything else catch the eye?

This fixture tends to always produce goals and Saturday’s clash could be set to serve up another thrilling encounter. Over 4.5 could be on the cards at 7/5 by BetVictor while bet365 is offering 8/13 for over 3.5 goals.

Bayern Munich won both halves in the reverse fixture and a similar outcome is priced at 23/10 by Paddy Power. Having netted a hat-trick in the reverse fixture, Harry Kane could be backed to grab two or more goals on Saturday at 9/4 with bet365.
