Atletico Madrid will take on Alaves on Saturday, 23 November as La Liga returns following the November international break.
The hosts will be hoping to kick on over the next couple of months and given that they trail league leaders, Barcelona, by seven points they don't have much margin for error.
Alaves, meanwhile, will be hoping that they can stay clear of the relegation zone in the coming weeks but this is far from an easy fixture for them.
How the bookies view it: Atleti start as favourites
As the home team, it is no surprise that Atletico Madrid are the favourites to win this match especially as they are much higher in the league than Alaves. Betfred have priced a home win at 2/5 while a victory for Alaves has been priced at 8/1. The draw, which would be a brilliant result for the visitors, has been priced at 7/2.
Recent head-to-head: A fixture that favours the team playing at home
Alaves will take great encouragement from the fact they have won two of their last four matches against Atletico Madrid but the only negative is that both of those matches were played on home soil. In fact, the five meetings between these two teams have been won by whichever of the two were the home side, something that bodes well for Atletico ahead of this weekend.
Players to watch: A chance for Sorloth?
Alexander Sorloth signed for Atletico Madrid in the summer in a big-money move from Villarreal but his move was quickly overshadowed by the signing of Julian Alvarez for more than £80m.
The idea of Alvarez overshadowing Sorloth has since played out on the pitch, too, which has left the big Norweigan frequently starting matches on the bench with Antoine Griezmann usually playing alongside the Argentinian at the top of the pitch.
The match on Saturday perhaps represents an opportunity for Sorloth to get a start under his belt as Alvarez will be jet-lagged after playing two matches in South America during the international break. Sorloth has scored three goals in his last six appearances for Atletico, which isn't a bad return, but a good performance on Saturday could properly kickstart his career in Madrid.
Predicted line-ups
Atletico Madrid are starting to get a lot of players back from injury but two key players still remain in the treatment room in the form of Thomas Lemar and Robin Le Normand. Alaves don't have too many issues, either, with their two only absentees being Hugo Novoa and Carlos Benavidez.
Atletico Madrid: Oblak – Molina, Gimenez, Lenglet, Reinildo – Simeone, Barrios, Koke, Gallagher – Griezmann – Sorloth
Alaves: Sivera – Tenaglia, Abqar, Pica, Sanchez – Blanco, Guevara – Vicente, Guridi, Martin – T.Martinez
Anything else catch the eye?
Atletico Madrid were meant to be more expansive this year given the money they spent on new forwards but Diego Simeone has returned to type in order to get results. Four of their last five matches have produced fewer than three goals and under 2.5 goals has been priced at 4/5 by Betfred for Saturday.
