ASTON VILLA and Burnley head into this clash buoyed by morale-boosting weekend wins and it promises to be an intriguing Premier League clash in the Midlands.
It looked like 10-man Villa would have to settle for a point in their derby with Wolves but Anwar El Ghazi drilled home a stoppage-time penalty to salvage my bet of a one-goal winning margin.
The bookies didn't give Burnley a prayer at Arsenal on Sunday but they also ground out a 1-0 win as the Gunners blew up after Granit Xhaka's senseless red card.
I fancied Mikel Arteta's men to get back on track in that game but still came away with one winning bet as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's own goal came from a header.
After a poor start to the season Burnley are now showing all the characteristics of a Sean Dyche side so while high-flying Villa are deserved favourites they won't get it easy.
How the bookies view it
Villa are odds-on favourites for this one and are a best 11/14 at SBK while Burnley are as big as 39/10 with the same firm. The draw is 3/1 with Unibet and I wouldn't rule that out.
Recent head to head
Aston Villa have held the edge in this fixture of late, losing just one of the last eight meetings. But that loss did come at home to the Clarets in 2014 as Danny Ings grabbed the only goal of the game.
It ended 2-2 at Villa Park last season (below) before Dean Smith's side claimed a 2-1 win at Turf Moor.
Players to watch
Ollie Watkins has gone off the boil of late for Villa, drawing a blank in his last three games, but remains a big goal threat. He's 13/10 with 888Sport to net his ninth of the season and 4/1 to break the deadlock.
Chris Wood netted in both games against Villa last season and is a big threat from set-pieces with his aerial power. The Kiwi is 6/1 with Bet365 for first scorer and 21/10 at 888Sport to net at any time.
Anything else catch the eye?
Aston Villa are without Douglas Luiz and Matty Cash through suspension after Mike Dean's card-happy refereeing in the derby so I fancy Burnley to score. Over 0.5 Burnley goals pays 8/15 at Genting but both teams to score is better at 5/6 with SportNation.
Over 2.5 goals has come up in four of the last six meetings so stands a chance here and pays 17/20 with BetVictor.
I'm going to stick with my bet of a goal being scored from a header with Burnley such a threat from set-pieces and Villa also boasting great delivery from free-kicks and corners with Jack Grealish. A header to be scored pays 5/4 with William Hill.
