ARSENAL conclude their Europa League group stage campaign with a home match against FC Zurich on Thursday night.
Mikel Arteta's men have already qualified for the knockout stages but they have yet to secure top spot following last week's 2-0 loss at PSV Eindhoven.
As such, the incentive for the Gunners this week is to avoid finishing second as they seek to avoid a knockout play-off round tie against a one the teams that will parachute into the competition from the Champions League.
Following last week's aforementioned defeat in Eindhoven, the Gunners returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday by making light work of Nottingham Forest in a 5-0 romp to victory.
As for FC Zurich, they recorded their maiden Group A win at the fifth attempt with a 2-1 win over Bodø/Glimt last Thursday to keep them in contention for a Europa Conference League safety net.
On the domestic front, the Swiss champions' focus is very much elsewhere as they bid to claw themselves off the foot of the Swiss Super League.
Outright Betting
Arsenal are short-priced 1/7 favourites with Bet 365 to secure the win that would confirm them as Group A winners.
FC Zurich, who slumped to defeat in their previous two group games away from home, enter the Emirates as massive 20/1 (UniBet) outsiders while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 15/2 (UniBet).
Betting Angles
There is no value in siding with Arsenal at a general 1/7 so I'll dip into Bet 365‘s Bet Builder market and combine Arsenal Half Time/Full Time and over zero Arsenal second-half goals at 4/5 (Bet 365).
As already mentioned, Arsenal still have the carrot of topping the section hanging in front of them and they should make no mistake against a Zurich side who may decide their priorities lie elsewhere.
The Gunners Europa League home form has been every bit as impressive as the standards they have set on route to the top of Premier League table, with the capital club collecting maximum points from each of their eight outings at the Emirates across all competitions this season so far.
Admittedly with a London derby showdown with Chelsea lying in wait this weekend, Mikel Arteta may use this meeting with the Swiss champions as a chance to rotate his resources.
However, the Gunners have strength in depth to their squad now, all of whom will be keen to make the most of their latest opportunity to shine against a Zurich side that have shipped 15 strikes across their five Group A assignments thus far.
With this in mind, coupled with the fact that the above-mentioned combination clicked when Arsenal hosted a similar standard of opposition in the shape of Bodø/Glimt, supporting the same 4/5 (Bet 365) formula on Thursday night looks worthy of a small interest.
Team news permitting, I'll also jump to the anytime goalscorer market and take the 10/11 (UniBet) for Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah to get on the scoresheet.
The Gunners' backup striker scored in September's reverse fixture and he could make the most of his time in the spotlight here by striking against a side propping up the Swiss top-flight.
