AC Milan vs Lazio

, KO: 20:00 Feb 9, 2022, San Siro
Lazio

After coming out on top in the Milan derby, AC Milan will look to carry that form into the Coppa Italia as they host Lazio in a quarter-final clash. Lazio have the quality to cause problems on Wednesday but Milan will be brimming with confidence and should take this one.

Barring the odd unexpected result, AC Milan’s resurgence in the last few seasons has been quite steady. Successive top four finishes appear to be on the cards and they will view the Coppa Italia as a chance to get their hands on some silverware.

AC Milan head into Wednesday’s clash off the back of a 2-1 victory over local rivals Inter Milan in a Serie A fixture on Saturday. Stefano Pioli’s men are unbeaten in six of their last seven matches across all competitions and claimed a 3-1 extra-time victory over Genoa in the previous round of the Coppa Italia.

One area that still needs improvement for AC Milan is their defensive record as they have kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 matches across all competitions.

Lazio also needed 120 minutes in the previous round of the Coppa Italia as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Udinese. After being frustrated for much of the encounter, Ciro Immobile struck the winner just after the restart in extra-time.

Maurizio Sarri’s men have been plagued by inconsistency for much of the season but appear to be finding some stability. They are unbeaten in their last four matches across all competitions and beat Fiorentina 3-0 in a Serie A fixture on Saturday.

While Lazio will be looking to maintain their recent good form, their record against the big sides this season has been poor. They have already lost to Napoli, Juventus and Inter Milan this term and were also beaten 2-0 by AC Milan in a Serie A fixture back in September.

Head to head

Players to watch

Olivier Giroud was on target in the previous round and also grabbed a brace for AC Milan in last Saturday’s derby. Bet365 is offering odds of 5/6 on the striker to score anytime.

Ciro Immobile often carries the attacking threat for Lazio and struck the only goal for Lazio in the previous round. The striker has also found the net twice in his last three appearances against AC Milan and is priced at 13/8 to score anytime on Wednesday.
