THERE was shock waves around the NFL on Saturday evening as the Colts were dealt a hammer blow, not only to their season but to the immediate future of the franchise.
After years of solid drafts, clever free agency moves, they had just about put together all the pieces to protect there franchise QB.
But then Andrew Luck announced his retirement from the sport. The Colts were finally in a position to go deep into the Playoffs with one of the most well rounded rosters in football, but the loss of Luck is devastating and is reflected in the bookmakers as drop from 12/1 to 50/1 (Paddy Power) to win the Super Bowl.
If you are on them to win the AFC South @11/10 (Boylesports), the task just got a lot harder with Jacoby Brisset, but he has shown signs of promise and is probably the best back up in the league at present.
Do not give up hope just yet, there is enough pieces to get 9-12 wins.
Most Regular Season Rushing Yards
Saquon Barkley had a big reputation coming into the league, but he surpassed all expectations. The Penn State running back had one of the most electrifying rookie seasons we have seen since in recent memory.
He became only the third rookie to surpass 2000 yards, breaking multiple giants records, most touchdowns in a season (11), rookie Running back reception record (91) and all time record for the most 100 yards from scrimmage games (13).
Questions remain over Todd Gurleys health, in the latter part of the season we saw his touches and numbers diminish greatly.
The Rams adding rookie Darrell Henderson is a clear they wanted dept at the position, touches could be divided between Gurley, Henderson and Malcom Brown.
Ezekiel Elliot is the clear favorite @13/4 (Ladbrokes) as he is going for his 3rd rushing title in a row, but questions remain over his contract situation and whether he will be ready for week 1.
Even if he lines out on opening night I expect another year of progression for Barkley, the Giants are tight on Wide Receivers and playmakers as it is, so expect him to line up all over the back field and be pressed into even greater duty this season.

My Favourite time of year.
I honestly can’t see the colts nicking the division now without Luck, he has that ability to win you those couple of extra games that normal players don’t.
Jacksonville and Houston have to think surely this is their opportunity.
Always low odds but it’s basically a gimme every year is New England over 11.5 games at evens on 365. The defence is more loaded than last year, the offence will work seamlessly regardless of Gronk. There’s enough in the ground game to compensate.
I would also tie that in with the Saints over 10.5 games currently at 6/5 on 365. They were arguably the worst non call of all time away from the super bowl and would’ve seriously threatened my Patriots. Saints breesed by last year ;) and have only gotten better from my point of view.
Only a few days away, cant wait !
Agreed on the patriots, but hopefully were finally starting to see a competitive division, i dont think anyone will count a W playing in Buffalo, PFF has them as a top 10 defence currently.
Any concerns over Brees second half of the season? Deep ball element was no where to be seen, and that division is brutal.
I like the Ram to have another good year, hopefully no hangover over 10.5 @evens Paddypower
Where is the mighty “Jordan” ? Any clues ?
No, sorry. Not been about for a while – busy with work I assume.
