I CELEBRATED New Year's Day with a few beers but no cigars. My three tips were all one goal short.
Greg was unlucky with a late goal controversially ruled out at QPR while two of Desmond's three bets are still running.
Well done to all the winners including maccathered with his goals tips at Brighton v Bournemouth.
On Tuesday there are seven matches in the Premiership and Championship as well as a full card in the Scottish lower leagues.
Been too busy today to do much else but pick out some teams from looking at the fixtures but will check stats, form and team news in the morning before putting up tips.
There is a separate Scottish preview where you will see reasoning for my tips and I haven't noticed team news this morning that makes me worried about any team in particular.
Going by results in the Premier League the past few days it looks a difficult card. Southampton v Crystal Palace and West Ham v West Brom could be close while Spurs will expect to win at Swansea and Man City at a short price should get back on track at home to Watford.
For a Super Single double I'm on West Ham draw no bet against a West Brom side who have only two full day's rest after drawing with Arsenal on New Year's Eve. The Hammers are continuing to progress under Davie Moyes and will be fresher. They shouldn't lose but I'm keeping the draw on side.
Add Crystal Palace not to lose at a Southampton side who are struggling for goals. Charlie Austin is injured and Shane Long hasn't notched since February. Palace have only lost to Spurs and Arsenal in their last 12 and are matching up to the type of sides they need to take points from to stay up.
In the Championship it's Fulham v Ipswich, Reading v Birmingham and Wolves v Brentford.
Biggest game in Scotland is the Renfrewshire derby between Morton and leaders St Mirren and it usually produces goals. I'm starting my both to score treble there and adding two from League One – the Lanarkshire derby between Albion Rovers and Airdrie and Alloa against revitalised Queen's Park who have netted 10 in five.
In League Two second-placed Peterhead stunned leaders Montrose with a 6-2 win at Links Park at the weekend and both should win on Tuesday. Peterhead are at home to Elgin and Montrose tackle basement boys Cowdenbeath.
Take them and add Raith to win at East Fife for the Top Treble. Rovers have won four and drawn one of five since losing to Peterhead in the Scottish Cup and are closing in on Ayr at the top. East Fife's last home game was a 4-1 defeat to Ayr.
The second Gold members draw for £500 was won by HullShaker and well deserved too. We gave away away £1000 to wato and HullShaker over the festive period and hopefully have another £1000 to give away to a Gold member soon.
We also ran a contest to pick a football treble on New Year's Day for a chance to win a £50 bet with Ladbrokes. Well done to all those who posted winners – there were five or six which shows how tough it is.
After a random draw the winners is gilzy whose treble on Scunthorpe, Luton and Notts County paid 6-1. Email your Ladbrokes grid card or account number to mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk and I'll arrange for the credit to be made

Stupidly thought Dutch league was back on Wednesday (sure I read it somewhere) but not back until mid-Jan…too much over-indulgence….
Also really fancy Napoli and Juve to win their coppa italia ties on Tuesday and Wednesday. Double pays 6-5 so I’ll be on that as well.
(I’m not sure why people are posting bets that they aren’t backing themselves…it’s difficult enough…)
Anyway – good luck all ?
Hooray…Winner at last…Scottish teams delivered the acca ??

Must mention as well- tip for the year, avoid the skybet boosted treble. No matter how good or easy it looks invariably 1 will always let it down ???
Gotta agree Sean, avoid the Sky bet boosts at all costs. When do the bookies ever do the punters any favours? I believe they compile these trebles adding just one team to win that they bank on not delivering the goods but also include one sure win to entice as many people as possible to back it. These will be put together with very careful consideration especially with the over inflated odds being offered over the festive period.
Good luck with your bets mate!
Not a lot of juice in the prices of the games that really ought to see goals tomorrow. Gonna try the following:
Swansea v Tottenham
Albion Rovers v Airdrie

Southampton vs Crystal Palace
Palace GOAL before 72 mins
5/6
365 – 6 Points
Prior to the United game, it is worth noting that the Saints had not kept a clean sheet in there last 11 games leading way back to there narrow in over West Brom in late October. I believe both first choice full backs Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand remain out and Palace will look to exploit the wide areas utilising key man Wilfried Zaha going forward. Palace have picked up important points away from home at Swansea and Leicester in recent times and im still flabbergasted at how they didnt pickup all three at home to City after a great performance and not capitalising on 2 fantastic opportunities. They will come in this fixture brimming with confidence and I like the look of the goal time. Soton will approach this game differently to the United contest and hopefully that will lead to chances for Palace to find the net.
Final December Profit/Loss figures: -12.23 Points
@kyle-b Happy New Year and many thanks mate. Good luck with your bet it looks a good shout too
looking at the week ahead and I can’t believe the price of Plymouth to beat Bury on Saturday. They’re 13/10 at Home. They’re unbeaten in 6 winning 4 on the bounce at home- Bury are bottom losing 5 on the trot without scoring. Surely they’ll be odds on soon.
Wouldn’t put you off that Gaz.
Just back in from a small New Year celebration. Probably right about Plymouth but Bury made it difficult for Scunthorpe yesterday.
Evening gents
Really liking the look of tomorrow’s Scottish card – a number of games that look good for goals.
Dunfermline v Falkirk – BTTS
QOS v Dumbarton – QOS score 2+
Albion v Airdrie – over 2.5 Goals
Stranraer v Ayr – over 2.5 Goals
Forfar v Arbroath – over 2.5 Goals
Peterhead v Elgin – over 2.5 Goals
Really fancy all of these so just need to decide what im going with
One thing that has caught my eye
Are the Skybet Scottish championship goals specials
? 14+ goals to be scored 10/11
I think this has a great chance of landing. You would expect Dundee United and QOS to contribute a few goals + The Fife and Renfrewshire derbies
? a goal to be scored in the second half of al 5 games 2/1
Will post a write up and what I’m
Opting for in the morning
Happy New Year gents and desite my poor picks it’s been a lovely start to 2018 thanks to a share of Mr F’s £1-£1000 challenge spoils – it really is much appreciated and has paid back my membersip subs in spades – the only issue now is that I have the tough choice of upgrading the whippets kennels or treating the family to a nice break away somewhere.
It’s moments like this that chrystallise your thinking and really bring home what matters most – with the advent of the New Year it will be great to see those dogs in a new set-up…
Joking aside, it’s not about the money – I love football and I’ve a real soft spot for betting – being a part of this community brings the two together for me and I honestly don’t think there is a site out there that can hold a match to this one in terms of a genuine depth and breadth of knowledge.
Long may that continue!
One selection that stands out tomorrow:
CITY OVER 7.5 TEAM CORNERS…8/11
????
Best of luck.
Well deserved Hully…. the amount of tips you post that bounce is incredible…none of us are buying the what you are going to do with the 500…the dogs are probably already booked up for a fortnight in Barbados with your actual winnings ? well done again ?
Shaker
Brechin or Elgin city ???
???
He he
??
ok to those who thought I was cheating by putting up winning bets after the event i can assure you that is the
way William Hill present their bets either winning or losing. The reason i do not put my bets up prior to the
games starting is I pick at least 5 games maybe up to 4 list”s.
Sorry if î upset anyone by posting my bets but it was not intended.
Ticketyboo
albion rovs v airdrie always goals in this btts 1st half 5/2 AND btts both halfs 8/1 b365 gl if u follow.
@elvis-parsley he clearly means Swansea ?
well done to hullshaker, i’d be fairly confident that he could turn that £500 into a very haandsome sum indeed!! what will you do with it mate, use it as your bank, or go for it with some larger than normal stakes?? keep us posted please!
Alright there Bixie old fruit – hope all’s well!
I’ve a fixed bank that I never alter or add too so the bookies won’t be seeing any of this money!
We’ve close family up in Scotland whose son took his own life a few months ago – they’ve little money and going through hell so this might make the new year a bit easier for them.
Sorry to hear that.
Also sorry to hear that Hull.
That’s crap Hull, sorry to read that. One of the wife’s best friends is going through a similar tragedy in their family at the moment and it’s obviously about as bad as it gets.
However, it is a nice way to use the money so well done – it’s a well deserved bonus. All the best to yourself and your friends for a better year in 2018.
Will be glad to see the back of 2017 to be honest – been a pretty shi*ty year…here’s to better times ahead ?
alls well here hull thanks, lovely gesture that, you’re a good un!
sorry to hear about the tragedy, awful, they’ll appreciate the financial help at a terrible time
My bet for tody
Southampton – Crystal Palace over 9,5 corners
I think in this match would be the most corners today in Premeir League
Southampton had 9 corners in las 2 games at home
Crystal Palace had at least 3 corners evry away match. In last 5 macthes has at least 3 cornes.
For me this macth would be plainty of corners and this tips is the best today
Even over 10,5 looks good
Easy Fife
Stranraer
Over 2.5mgs double 7/5
Good luck all

hi
What happen to jordan sports page. no other threads for other sports
Didnt see any tips from @hunter, @baggio since long time
If Jordan sends tips we’ll put up a sports thread. Possibly lack of tips is down to the time of year.
Spurs > 1.5 TGS, Bala v TNS > 2.5 MGS 6/5
Kane / Aguero ATGS 6/5 (assuming they start)
Hopefully a fresher Spurs can grab a couple at the Liberty …. Bala v TNS has a history of goals and hopefully both sides will contribute tonight. On the goal scorer front Kane looking for a third consecutive hatrick and Aguero has a good record against the Swans. GL all today!
For this afternoon
Albion > 2.5 MGS, Peterhead / Stranraer > 1.5 MGS Evens
Wolves v Brentford
Not an easy game by any stretch of the imagination. We were 0-0 at brentford earlier in the season.
We’ve not played our best the past month (ish) but have still put up an impressive tally despite this and over the last few games we’re improving in how we do things.
Showed a ridiculous amount of grit and steel at Bristol City and defensively looked good with just 10 men against 11 for a large chunk.
Expect Cav to start ahead of Costa tonight and losing Baath due to his red isn’t a problem as he’s not been ever present anyway. I’d expect him to start with a back 3 of Boly, Coady and Bennett.
I think Brentford will attack us to be fair and this plays to our strengths and the possibility of going 12 clear of Derby in second and 14 clear of 3rd is something I expect Nuno will I still into the team. Also the passion shown by Nuno was on another level.
This season we’ve had… “you won’t get passion from foreigners”, “how
Will the foreigners cope on a cold winters night?” And the Steve ‘Potato head’ Bruce constant game of thrones (esq) classic of “There’s a long winter ahead” ….. so far I think our lads have dispelled this stupidity.
I can’t see past a home win for us to be honest and as good as I feel that Brentford are we should have too much in the tank tonight.
Wolves win – 8/11 – 5 points (NAP)
Wolves 2+ – 4/7 – 2.5 points (NB)
Wolves and BTTS – 21/10 – 2 points (NNB)
I like Scott Allotts double of a wolves win and a spurs win which gives 1.35/1.
Btts tonight is highly likely.
Picked a fee Scot game out but I’ll leave the posting for them to you scot lads that will be more confident.
Picked out these two
Palace double chance 5/6
City v Watford
Over 10.5 match corners 5/6
Long shot treble
City race to 9 corners
Spurs race to 9 corner
Palace win and under 2.5goals
52/1
Obviously lower stake
WOLVES V BRENTFORD
There have been 7 meetings between the 2 sides in the c’ship with 5 going over 2.5 but only 3 btts. But goals do seem the way to go here especially with Brentford’s attacking style. They have scored 11 and conceded 10 in their last 6 aways.
Wolves at home had been banging them in scoring 14 in 4 games but have dried up in their last 2 netting just once but with this game likely to be a more open affair I’d be surprised if this game didn’t go O2.5.
However the bookies also seem to think there will be goals and at 4/7 generally it’s not much value. So looking a bit deeper into trends, of those 5 previous meetings that went O2.5 there has been no more than 1 goal scored in the first half
So at 20/21 I’m taking highest scoring half 2nd half
SOUTHAMPTON V C. PALACE
Soton are on an 8 game winless run and while they may have earned a valuable away point at UTD will find it difficult to break down a Palace side who have lost just once in 9 and conceded just 8 goals in that time (3 against arsenal).
Palace +1 4/5

BTTS 1st half treble
Morton v St Mirren
Dunfermline v Falkirk
Albion Rovers v Airdrie
87/1 Price boosted with William Hill
Morning gents posted my shortlist list last night – here’s what I’ve went with
Peterhead v Elgin
Forfar v Arbroath
A statement of intent was made by Peterhead on Saturday as they blew away fellow promotion hopefuls Montrose 6-2 away from home – we all know they have the best player in the league in Rory McAllister and I’d expect them to continue their great scoring by disposing of Elgin. Gav Price has done a great job at once taking of the reigns from Jim Weir but they are in a bad run at the moment and are shipping goals. Elgin may nick one Peterhead should manage a to find the net at least twice, probably more
Result of the season in league one has to be bottom side Forfars remarkable comeback away to Ayr on Saturday. 2-0 down they came back to win 3-2 and it was a huge result for Jim Weirs sides. Forfar are at the bottom as they have the leakiest defence in the league – Arbroath have seen 7 of their last 9 both teams score and we should see that again here
Back over 2.5 match goals double 27/20 (Ladbrokes) (NAP)
*****************************
The championship looks great for goals today and I like sky bets special Of their being 14+ Goals in the 5 games
This was closing to be the NAP
Back 14+ match goals to be scored in the Scottish Chanpionshp today 10/11 ( Skybet)
*****************************
QOS v Dumbarton – QOS 2+ goals
Stranraer v Ayr – over 2.5 goals
Dunbarton will be facing the best striker in the legaue in Stephen Dobboe today – he’s already hit 20 goals this season and with QOS scoring at will in games at the moment I fancy them netting at least two here.
Why ha happened to Ayr – two defeats on the spin. I don’t see them slipping up here though and expect them to get back on the goal trail against a leaky Stranraer side
Double pays 6/4
*****************************
Its is not “Here’s what i went with” should say “Here’s what i have selected” or “ears what i have gone wiv” grammar is atrocious, yours geo.
Southampton v Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace double chance at 5/6 (NAP)

I didn’t go with any Scottish games as the weather isn’t looking too hot tonight strong winds expected across Norn Iron and Scotland so games could be affected so didn’t take any chances good luck all as always
All the Scottish games are this afternoon as it’s a holiday so may escape the worse of it.
Been wet this morning but fairly calm.
Just been looking at fixtures on the 14 january Liverpool are 9/5 to beat Man City which is massive,Liverpool will hammer them thats for sure.Revenge for the result at the emptihad.
Macca Macca Macca !!!
U make me laugh mate lol
U WILL “Hammer” us !
U r at the min tlkn about a team that’s unbeaten in the league in 18 games mate, okay that cld & will end that run soon enough? (Hopefully not like) lol but to say “U will hammer us” is a bit of a statement considering r form right now @ this present time.
Also u “Just” got 3 points at Burnley with a late late goal “Lucky enough” !
Anyway, gd luck on the day …
U WILL need it! Lol
Why would Liverpool fear Man City??Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 16 matches themselves and that late point at Burnley is a great result considering how hard it is to get a result there.i thought City were lucky not to have lost at Palace??don’t delude yourself by thinking Man City is much better than Liverpool because they simply aren’t even though the table suggests otherwise,we will beat city hands down at Anfield and that i am confident of,remember you played 10 men at the emptihad and we could have scored 4 before the!!
I also think we have the best attack in the premier league, maybe i am been biased but i haven’t seen better, wait whilst you meet the big guns in champions league,do you really think you can win it with the likes of Raheem Sterling lol.
You sound very bitter macca. Sterling’s been majestic and probably one of the best players in Europe this season. You say your attack is better than city but we’ve still managed 11 goals more. Most of your goals are down to the brilliance of Salah, who I accept is a phenomenal player.
Here Here! Lol
Not bitter in the slightest,i have had the pleasure of watching my side Lift European cups and league titles,Man City may never win a european cup so good memories.I don’t rate city as highly as your good self and i know that Liverpool are as good if not better than Man City,we will finish runners up this year thats just my opinion,i never rated sterling when he played for Liverpool and i still don’t rate him and he’s not good enough to wear the England shirt either, infact he wouldn’t make the Liverpool team now.
Macca, u cld beat us YES but nothing is a cert, (as u r suggesting i think) biased… yea defo! Lol
Mate I’m not having a go mate, in any way, was just saying, u can’t be 100% confident of a win? Wen we r probably 1 of the best teams in Europe at the min, but of course it’s all on the day & also being at home 4 u is a gd advantage, but let’s just wat happens? Gd luck with ur bets & take the red specs aff! (Joke) lol
We could be you lol,we will beat you.
Apologies Mr F first day back at work for me and shows just how on the ball I am today lol good to see the weather shouldn’t cause any problems

Yeah
First time posting, hoping that it will hold me accountable to some of my bets and make me bet a little more sensibly.
Cliftonville v Ballymena:
Cliftonville always a solid bet when playing at home and have only fallen to the big hitters in the league which ballymena definitely arent. Ballymenas away form this season has been poor, even though they looked a bit better in the derby last time out but thats to be expected and is possibly the reason the price is as high as it is.
Cliftonville (8/11)

Hi gents. Nothing serious but been finding very good success on a #YourOdds Market with William Hill. Usually stick to games that can go either way and tonight I like the look of this to land at St Mary’s.
Southampton/Crystal Palace
Each Team Over 3 Corners & Each Team Over 1 Card @ 5/1 @ William Hill – 1 point
Always worth risking the extra corner. Each Team Over 4 Corners & Each Team Over 1 Card @ 14/1.
It’s funny how good the bet looks the way bookies word it. I’d write it each team 5+ corners and 2+ cards.
I agree. Wouldn’t take this kind of market on the City/Watford game though.

Rotation time – not entirely unexpected.
Read quite a few Twitter feeds today Paul, saying that Kane had some sort of bug…
Aye he’s got a goal bug.
a bit of value in card markets from Swansea game .
Fredrico Fernandez to be booked @4/1 .
He is also worth backing for first card @14/1 .
he has been booked in three of the last four and booked first in two of those.

Cheers mate, well done on your 5 ton.
Spurs > 1.5 TGS, Bala v TNS > 2.5 MGS 6/5 WON :) :)
needed a couple of late goals from Spurs and TNS!
☆☆☆☆☆WON☆☆☆☆☆
SOUTHAMPTON V C. PALACE
Soton are on an 8 game winless run and while they may have earned a valuable away point at UTD will find it difficult to break down a Palace side who have lost just once in 9 and conceded just 8 goals in that time (3 against arsenal).
Palace +1 4/5

Winners aplenty tonight, good job fellas ?⚽️
@kyle-b excellent mate I so fancied it when I see your post this morning well done
1 out of 3 for me on the Spurs game, needed another goal for either the other bets to land:
Spurs and Over 2.5 mgls @ 11/10 (*) ✖
Spurs -1.5 Asian Handicap @ 8/7 (*) ✔
Total Spurs goals over 2.5 @ 8/5 (*) ✖
Total: +2.7 points
@hullshaker just read your post above regarding what you plan to do with your windfall. I’m very sorry to hear that mate and as someone who lost his own son in the not too distant past, I’d like to offer a small bit of help. If you agree and @mr-fixit can sort out the swapping of email adresses etc I’d like to add £50 from my own betting bank to your tally. It’s not a lot but if it helps in any way I’m only to glad to do it
Sean, I’d read between the lines of your posts over the last couple of years and thought you had lost your lad – so sorry for you mate and for your family’s loss.
I always smile when I see your profile pictures though and imagine the special times you must have had together – loved the picture of you both sharing a beer on your old picture!
Re the money – it’s a lovely offer but I’m lucky enough to be in a decent financial position so tell you what, let’s both put a double together and if it wins we’ll donate to the causes that matter to us?
More than happy to share my email as well if admin could pass it on.
Take care Sean and let’s raise a glass to those that were taken from us way to early.
Thanks hull, although none of the pics have been of him lol, the one on the couch was me and my mate, (he’s actually 7 years older than me) and my current one is of me and my other son ????
Well done all winners today ??
Loads of high scoring games in Scotland today, just a shame QOS and Forfar didn’t go the same way. Was toss coin between the Ayr game and the Forfar game – hindsight is a great thing. Biggest dissappoinement was QOS
A poor day and not a great Feative period. Pleased it’s all over now –
Looking forward to normal cards resuming ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Looking at Sydney at home to Newcastle Jets in the A-League tomorrow morning.
Jets have been great this season but have a few key players out now (8 or so injuries) and have lost against the other 3 top sides in the league (all by 2-1 scorelines). They have scored in every game this season and all but one have gone over 2.5. Sydney are of course flying and are looking for their 8th consecutive victory (unbeaten in 24 at home, winning 14 of last 15), won 6-0 last match, and haven’t lost against the Jets since 2012. Jets lost 2-1 last time out against Melbourne Victory. BTTS has come up in 5/7 Sydney homes. Considering the stats and team news it doesn’t seem likely that the Jets can get the long awaited win against Sydney, although BTTS does seem likely.
Sydney to win or draw + over 2.5 @ 39/50 (**) (marathon)
Sydney to win or draw + BTTS @ 51/50 (*) (marathon)
Sydney win and BTTS @ 2/1 (*)
Hullshaker i ment santos game i done 2.5 goals won
And btts pending, and i let my bet run earlier i was waiting for
Tottenham to score 2 boom,u ok mate,
Just got back from the game tonight and to summarise. First half we were dog-sh*te. Second half we were Barcelona. 3 nil will do nicely and puts us 12 points clear of 2nd spot.
My recommendations:
***WIN*** Wolves win – 8/11 – 5 points (NAP)
***WIN*** Wolves 2+ – 4/7 – 2.5 points (NB)
***LOSE*** Wolves and BTTS – 21/10 – 2 points (NNB)
dash it tonites 6/1 LOST goal short in Swansea game rest romped in story of my day really…………..
@sean567 @hullshaker
hull, knew you would do that type of thing as we have been chatting on the phone and keeping in touch on a regular basis over the past couple of years now you come across as a very genuine decent guy, plus knowing your profession and the hours you dedicate to it says a lot for you as a human being also. As I have mentioned to hull I have had a pretty rotten year also with two family members being diagnosed with terminal cancer that has caused a number of serious financial issues too, but fortunately I too am lucky enough in that I am financially secure and able to assist and help out where I can.
If I can cut in also and add my name I will chip in on the bet to a charity of choice, will stick it on a shop machine or something send the image to hull, if it wins my end will transfer the cash onto wherever…………….
One stipulation though, I’m not choosing the bet……………….
All the best G……………….
@sean567 @hullshaker @craneguy
Due to my very generous donation too I would throw my hate in the ring for one too!
Hull not sure what you posted mate cant’ seem to see anything??
its near top of thread K matey……………….
Oh sorry just seen it mate. @hullshaker sorry to hear that. Been there too with a close relative a few years back a week before Christmas.
Finished 3-0 in Brasil so full stake back on the Goal Line pick – loads of winners tonight, well done lads.
Got on 2.5 at HT at EVS Hull so I lucked out,
Nice words n chat on here tonight gents :)
Yeah plenty winners well done!
Got stung with Kane anytime scorer(thought it be void) but Brazilians save the night.
on a lighter note…………. you could always have bought Bury Town FC lock stock and barrel and still have had £450 left over to pass on………………
